old equipment (?!)

okay, just a quick question for the pros in the know.

one of my electrologists has what appears to be some older equipment.

i think it’s a proteus ep 2000 (thermolysis).

not much in terms of dials and levers and whatnot (compared to a newer apilus, some of which come with the espresso machine option).

looks old and creaky .

is this a real machine? does it get the job done?

the electrologist who owns it does fantastic work, hardware asides.

It is a real machine… real OLD too.

Let’s just put it this way, the last NEW Proteus machine went off the line while I was still in Kindergarten!

oh dear. maybe i should chip in for a new apilus for her.

If she is still using a Proteus, she could at least use a step up to a nice Fischer CBX

Going from a Proteus to an Apilus would be like going from a Model T ford to a Lexus Hybrid. The person would ask, Where is the crank?

I went from a Proteus to an Apilus SX-500. The reason most electrologists buy new equipment is because they have to, not because they want to. My Proteus is one heck of a work horse. I never had one problem with it. (I can’t say that about the Apilus, but fortunately Dectro stands behind their equipment.) I upgraded because I felt I needed to move into the 21st century. It’s not just in the electrolysis profession that it’s hard to convince the owner to upgrade any equipment that is still in good shape.

This site makes consumers aware of the different choices in equipment. I’ve had my Apilus for about 18 months. In all that time, only once has anyone asked me what equipment I use.

So “Choice”, you would be a perfect person to ask for verification.

Do you see how, one the one hand, you could continue to use that Proteus for into the next century and still do competent hair removal, and yet, on the other hand, the Apilus allows one to actually speed up one’s treatments with features like AutoSensor, and it can be made comfortable enough to do longer treatments, and one can see the same client twice in the same week?
