I am currently undergoing laser hair treatment on both of my arms. I am a guy and I didn’t care for the amount of dark, fairly long hair I had on my arms. I told the place I am going that I didn’t really want complete removal, but I wanted a substantial reduction. Small amounts of hair, hopefully blond, would be ideal in my opinion, but I think 110% bare for the rest of my life would be weird.
As I’m sure everyone here knows, a reduction can be done no problem, but it’s a whole different story as to whether the reduction looks uniform, normal, etc. Despite this, I WANTED a reduction and I have underwent 2 treatments so far. I figured if it looked terrible, I could always perhaps go for a complete reduction. I was content with playing it by ear.
I always knew I had some blond hair all across my body (after all, my head hair is dirty blond), but I never really thought about what I realized today!
Currently, I am between treatments and all of my hair has shedded, so I am in the (relatively) hairless phase. What I am noticing is that I have an okay amount of blonde hair growing which I am assuming was not affected by the laser. I am so happy because I am assuming I can eventually go for total arm hair removal, however this blond arm hair will remain and look as normal as anyone who just has a small amount of blond hair on the arms!
It’s a pretty small realization, but I figured it might be meaningful to some people on this forum.
Thanks for the observation. Your comments are very helpful. Two treatments are only the beginning, but it sounds like you are off to a goood start. Please come back between and after you complete treatments and share more observations. What laser are you using?
I honestly do not know what laser they are using, but when I go back at the end of June I will find out. I have very dirty/dark blond hair, and my arm hair is quite dark as well. My skin is not really pale, but at the same time it does take some work for me to tan. Based on what I’ve been told I am a pretty good candidate for laser.
I am going to Ideal Image in Atlanta though, and the experience has been positive thus far.
This chain uses good lasers, GentleLASE and GentleYAG. You are actually not a great candidate with blondish hair, even if it’s dark, but you’re lucky since it seems that it has enough pigment to be affected and it’s also because they’re using a good laser. When you ask, find out what settings they’re using (spot size - between 12 and 18mm most likely - and joules - between 10 and 30 most likely).
