I just have to tell everyone what a great experience I just had. I recently moved to Brooklyn New York for work from upstate and I was worried I would’nt be able to find another place that was as good as my last one. Well, guess what? I found one that is better! I have never felt so comfortable, happy, and at home when recieving laser hair removal sessions before in my life! The staff at Cosmetic Laser Company in Brooklyn New York is the best I have ever dealt with (and as a hairy woman, I have dealt with a lot). They are friendly, helpful and kind. Not the mention the great deals they have. I got 50 dollars off of my package because I was a new customer. I would highly reccomend anyone in the New York area to give them a try! Wwww.CosmeticLaserCompanyBrooklyn.Com.
If you’re an actual customer, please provide more information about your past and current treatments, types of laser used, reduction achieved thus far, etc. Otherwise, it just sounds like self-promotion, which we get a lot here.
Thanks Angela K for that information.
Speaking of New York City, allow me to recommend another great laser business, Romeo & Juliette’s. Here’s their website:
http://www.romeojuliettelaserhairremoval.com/about.htm
One of my daughters work colleague had treatments there and is very, very pleased with her results. She found them to be highly ethical and friendly.
Dee
How sweet of you Dee.
Do you have concerns about this recommendation, pdeco? Please feel free to speak up if you do.
I had read over this forum for about 2 weeks before I went for my first consultation for laser hair removal at Romeo and Juliette, www.romeojuliettelaserhairremoval.com . I went to this center due to the great support they receive from a lot of your posts dfahey and also because their reviews on citysearch.com are outstanding. Their site says they have been doing laser hair removal for, I believe, 8 years and has lots of lasers. I really liked the look of the center, kind of a greek theme, and that there were several women in the waiting area. So I did a consult and had them do a laser patch test, which they did just above my knee, well problem is now I have light circle markings there and another laser hair removal center I went to, two weeks later, said I was slightly burned and honestly it doesn’t look right. Is this normal? Was I burnt? I haven’t called them and really don’t want to because I didn’t like the girls attitudes at the counter, they weren’t too friendly. I see they are active on this forum so I am sure someone will chime in on their behalf, but in the meantime I want another professional opinion.
-Hana H.
You really should call the clinic and come in so they can look at it. That’s what test spots are for - to see what settings you can handle before they use them on your entire area. Ask to speak with Chris directly. He’s the owner and contribues to this forum.
Dear Forum Members:
Again, accusations from the same corner of the universe. In fact, the person who wrote this review, also wrote the same review on yelp.com. Here is the link:
http://www.yelp.com/biz/romeo-and-juliette-laser-hair-removal-new-york
If you read the review of HanaH on yelp and check her profile, you will also see that she " supposedly " went to another center that was wonderful and guess what the name of that center was:
ASSARA LASER !!! Her review of Assara laser is also posted on her profile.
Read this review, as well as the one on yelp and see the inconsistencies.
Does that name ring a bell ??? Please read all the postings on HAIRTELL and you will see the facts.
These people have nothing else to do ( whoever they are ) but to bad mouth the competition and glorify the center they are reviewing.
In fact, on yelp, they are accusing HAIRTELL of being biased and that all the reviews of our customers are fake. Yet, they are not realising who they are dealing with.
They have done the same on Citysearch and on many other sites. They have attacked not only us but Laser Cosmetica as well, specially after the Owner proved to the Forum that they were lying and that he had never met any of the reviewers.
Andrea cancelled the accounts of QBCMTR and LHADDICT because they were the same people doing the same thing.
So, in conclusion, all the reviews on these sites say that ROMEO & JULIETTE is terrible but guess who is good ??
It is also very interesting that these reviewers are daily being caught and proven wrong.
First of all, we do not do a patch test right above the knee. That is not an area of a patch test for us.
Secondly, all patch test clients are provided with a patch test card. I am sure you will not be able to provide that card either.
Nobody on this Forum supports us blindly. We have been on it for over 3 years and have learnt as well as provided valuable information to consumers interested in laser hair removal.
Anyone can go back to all the reviews and check for themselves.
In fact, you do not need to do a deep research. Call the laser companies and ask for recommendations.
Reviews can be written by business owners, competitors and many others. I would DEFINITELY NOT ADVISE CONSUMERS to use REVIEWS ONLY when making a decision.
Check the NUMBER OF YEARS A FACILITY HAS BEEN IN BUSINESS
Check the TRAINING AND SCHOOLING OF THE TECHNICIANS
Check the AWARDS AND RECOGNITIONS, if any that the Center has received.
Check the LASERS that the facility owns.
To date, in the 8 years of History of Romeo & Juliette nobody has had adverse reactions and has written anything on a Forum about a patch test in our facility. If customers had an issue, they would call and be taken care of.
This posting already clearly indicates the intention of the poster.
This is incredible. The lengths that people go to to get business. Their business must not be doing too well.
I hope you printed this person’s profile on Yelp and contacted Yelp too.
It sounds like it’s time for a court date.
You are obviously a very guilty person because of your extensive response to my post. Yes I am now going to Assara Laser, a much better facility than what you run Sir, in my opinion. If you check my file, which I am sure you do keep files of people coming in for consultations at your center, you will find that I am a real person that did do a patch test at your center, no matter what you write on this forum because obviously you deny every bad comment about your center. My first name is Hana and my last initial is actually H, I will not reveal my last name but I am sure it isnt too hard to find a Hana H. in your system. Next time I go back to Assara I will have them take pictures and will have them post them to support my case. The technician that treats me used to work for you and I have seen you bad mouth her on this forum as well. If you search this forum you will see that lagirl and dfahey always support you and they are located in La and Chicago, how is that they can support you but have no experience with your center?, so in my opinion you are the one running the scam.
To the moderators of this forum, I have gone to Romeo and Juliette for a consultation, I truly had a patch test done and yes I was burned by his technician. It seems that on this forum every time someone posts something negative about this center “Romeo” responds rapidly with lagirl or dfahey by his side? Looks fishy and he also denies everything. I am going to tell the tech at my new center about this forum and have her talk about what she experienced working for “Romeo’s” center to shed some light on this place.
You are obviously attacking this center by writing this post about this technician, you might want to consult with your attorney’s to see if this is recommended to post publicly about someone.
It is our obligation to jump in when things just don’t add up with some of these posts, especially, when someone is personally attacked. When new posters arrive, who appear to be the same person using two different screen names, and sabatoge someone’s business, we don’t take kindly to that and will say so freely. That is what appeared to be happening in this thread http://www.hairtell.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/56825/Anyone_reccommend_a_Manhattan_.html#Post56825 . The person that was aggrieved was given suggestions on what they could do to resolve this and never contacted Chris Karavolos as far as I can see from the above postings. Private messages were sent to me from this aggrieved new poster(or posters??) and I kept asking if they had contacted Chris. Chris, did this unhappy person ever contact you? And now, it starts again with someone new?
I do not know Chris personally and have never been to his place of business. I DO KNOW that posters from the past, on another forum, have had positive things to say about Romeo & Juliette’s. So, I will pass those good comments on when someone asks for places to start their search for laser hair removal in New York City, but they are certainly encouraged to check out every place they possibly can whether it be Assara, Romeo & Juliette or Larry’s Laser Palace. That’s what we advise here for laser and electrolysis searches because we have now way of really knowing who is the best.
Why don’t you take this disgreement to the private message level? People come here for hair removal advice and don’t want to be burdened with other peoples personal battles.
By the way, I love Chicago, but I’m not located in Chicago.
Thanks for listening,
Dee
Please note that no one with the above description has been to our facility and had such issues.
Secondly, I have been on these Forums and other ones for over 5 years. The ONLY TIMES that anyone complained about us, whether we were accused of not giving a refund or treated them badly, or spoke bad about someone , they have always compared us to THE SAME Center that is part of the topic. It is ALWAYS us versus them. I find that quite strange…
If you read such good reviews about us and ever had a patch test, why would you not call us ?? Why would you wait , then go somewhere else and then complain.
You say that you will take pictures after being burnt " slightly " after a few weeks. Why can’t you take the pictures yourself ??? What you posted on yelp and Hairtell is inconsistent.
How come you do not have a PATCH TEST CARD to prove that you came to us ??
LAGIRL and DFAHEY have been on these Forums for MANY MANY YEARS and their posts are in the thousands. I think, by questioning them, you are questioning their integrity.
If we were writing our own reviews, then how come we were voted BEST LASER HAIR REMOVAL FACILITY by Citysearch USERS for so many years ??? Afterall, that is a PUBLIC VOTE.
How come Cynosure released a press release about us being a center of excellence and Candela is working on one ??
We are not guilty by replying in detail to your post but I assume it makes you very angry to see our success.
Every Center can have issues, the question is how we deal with these issues.
I have never attacked the center mentioned in this Forum publicly. Any attacks , whether it is against a person or a Center is left to my lawyers.
The Post about this technician is PUBLIC INFORMATION. This person has had issues in the past, while she was in our facility.
All remarks made about her are documented and we welcome the opportunity to be challenged on this issue. As President of the New York State Association of Laser Hair Removal Specialists, it is my duty to inform consumers about DOCUMENTED issues regarding laser hair removal in New York State, including in our facility.
I have merely responded to a Moderator when a question was asked regarding a past technician that may have a grudge against us.
By the way, how did you know that this technician used to work for me ??
Dee- Sorry if I wrote Chicago, my mistake. Yes I will take your advice and send Romeo a private message. How do you suggest I prove I was at Romeo’s center?
Romeo- You are publicly saying that you have no such person with the first name Hana and last initial H in your files? I can describe your center as I experienced it if you like? Yes I know this technician use to work for you because she told me when I told her I went to your center and had a patch test done. I will not say what she said on this forum because I did not experience all of her comments myself except that I was burned by your center on a patch test. You can call Assara and ask them if they have such a person on file if you think I am making this up. I found both your centers on Citysearch and yes I went to your place first, if I wasn’t burned you would be my center. Also if your technicians past and present are burning people maybe you need to focus on having some of there names on the certificates you have in your treatment room and not just your name, do you not have certificates on the wall of the treatment room that is directly in front of your reception desk? As you walk in they’re on the left wall and in that room you have a window to the right that has a blind drawn down and a door to the back left. Your treatment bed is pushed up against the back wall with your lasers to the right as you walk in. How would I know this if I haven’t been to your center? Should I describe more? Your elevator is so small too, it only can fit like 3 people, how would I know this? Don’t try and cover this up with a test patch card as well, only thing I got was a business card with a quote written on the back. You can deny everything of course, even if I said I had laser done at your center, you can just deny the whole thing it’s that simple for you to do.
You say you have never attacked a center publicly but your responses obviously are blaming Assara for writing this post. Are you going to blame every bad review you receive on this center? I have only had one treatment at Assara and I am not in any position to speak highly of them, yet, but when I am through with my treatments I will post about my experience, if good or bad. My first treatment was on 9/30/08 and I was not burned by them, only thing I know as of now about this center and that my technician used to work at your center.
Mr. Karavolas:
I write this open letter in response to the defamatory remarks you have made on this, and other forums and consumer review websites, regarding our laser centers and specialists. Here, I wish to confine my remarks to your actions over the last several days.
You have stated in your posting dated October 19, 2008, that you have never attacked a center publicly and that your posts about our specialists convey public information. In your prior posting, dated October 16, however, you attempt to identify, by name, a former employee of yours, whom you assert was “fired” for misconduct and further assert is now under our employ.
As you are well-aware, your false and defamatory statements, which you purport to be factual, attacking us and our employees’ professional character or standing constitutes legally actionable defamation.
We caution you to be mindful – even if you are president of a New York association of hair removal clincs, personal attacks against an individual’s character and ability to practice in her licensed profession are illegal, damaging to an individual’s livelihood, unethical, and cause harm to our industry as a whole. We have known of your tactics, which have gone as far as initiating vexatious and meritless litigations against your competitors and the posting of negative reviews on consumer websites.
By this letter, we caution you to cease and desist the illegal and unethical courses of action you have taken to promote your business interests. If you continue on these courses, as we have in the past, we will request the moderators of this forum to ban you from posting further defamatory statements.

Somebody pass the popcorn.
I have to say it’s quite amusing to see a group of people try to use this forum to persue their goals. Posts like this are obvious to the rest of us who’ve been on the forum for years. They stand out like a sore thumb. Assara expects the forum to believe that in a span of only 24 hours 1. an actual customer posted here under one name, 2. the same customer posted again under another name matching their suspicious Yelp post (why?), and 3. a lawyer on bahalf of Assara found out about all this (how?) and posted again. Seriously?
IN EITHER CASE, if you have issues with Chris’s center, you need to deal with HIM directly. By not doing that, you’re basically showing the entire forum and the court (when it’ll come to that) that you don’t actually have anything to back up your claims with. An anonymous forum is not a place to post your supposed legal notes asking any business to do anything. That’s not legal action. If you actually think there is validity in your statements, you need to send your letter by certified mail and set a court date. I assume you don’t have anything to present in court and that’s why you haven’t done it yet.
HanaH
Based upon my review of Romeo & Juliette records, your statements are false.
I invite you to sue Romeo & Juliette for your alleged injuries and once you identify yourself in a public court, be assured I will conterclaim for your defaming the name and goodwill of this Company.
lagirl- My suspicions exactly, the two members who respond to everyone of Romeo’s posts have done so again. I have one username and yes I posted my experiences on yelp.com, that’s a review site. (Doesn’t one post reviews on review sites?) Where is the second name you are speaking of? I informed my specialist of what was said about her on this site and it appears as though she did the right thing by telling someone at her company. I agree with you though that their in-house lawyers should take this to court. And so should she. And they probably will if they are smart. That said, how do I prove that I am a “true person” who went to Romeo’s center? Can I call you on the phone? (I will pay the long distance charges, don’t worry.) Look, the bottom line is that Romeo can sit here and deny everything all day long, but facts are facts and the facts will come out especially if someone has had a bad experience at his center.
Oh, and by the way, the “President of America’s Lasers” that Romeo claims to be president of? I’m sure you are well aware what that association is all about. In case anyone else wants to know, well, here it is. (http://www.nysals.com/wordpress/) It appears to be a “shell” with no writing, no blog, no address. It does have one thing, though: his phone number at his own laser clinic!! Cute, huh? Surprised? Don’t be.
HanaH
Do your homework.
The site is http://www.nysals.com. There is plenty of writing, posts, articles, etc. You can call MELA in Washington DC and they will tell you what we do in New York State.
By the way,for a client who signed up recently, you know alot about the legal system, lasers, Associations, etc.
We wish you all the best with your " treatments "
Your post is self-explanatory. Like I said, we’ve all been on this forum contributing for years and can clearly see a farse. As far as I can see, you have not taken any practical legal action, which says that there is nothing to support anything you claim.
