not shaving hair before laser haor removal?

Hi

im going to begin my laser hair removal treatments next week with the GentleYag. The technition told me that i need to come with a “over shave” on the day of my appointment…she told me to not shave for about one week or so because she needs to be able to see the hair? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

i have had experience with the coolglide and the aurora…but none of my other technition told me not to shave before the appointment day…

if i dont shave wont the enegry of the laser get more focused on the hair sticking out rather than the hair follicle that its suppose to zap?

can anyone help me?

you’re right. you want laser to be attracted to the follicle. so you do need to shave beforehand. if the tech is worried that she won’t see where you need to be treated, shave 1-2 days beforehand so u have just a slight bit of stubble.

Talk to them again. My guess is that they’ll shave you there in the clinic after seeing the growth you have. Where I go they always offer a pre-treatment shave. I’m already shaved so it’s never necessary.
