Normal electrolysis reaction or overtreating?

Hi All,

Can someone tell me whether or not the images below look normal to you? In particular I have a handful of follicles where they are blackish in the center. On the picture of the nipple, it is the one at the top. On the bikini area there are a handful. There are several but I only pointed out a couple where you can tell in the picture. It’s a little easier to see in real life than in these pictures.

During the treatment I “think” that I heard a popping sound on some of the flashes which I had read may indicate a blow-out. I’m not totally sure though because the sound was similar to the crunch of the paper on the bed. I just want to know what to look for in case there were any blowouts.

Hi, personally I can not see the pics.

Yes, your photos are “restricted” so I cannot see them either … gewesen sein.

Alright I’m trying posting the picture to Flickr, hopefully these work. I can maybe try to get an even closer picture today if that helps.

Also, I should add a little more detail in case it helps. My first electrologist was under-treating (I could definitely feel tweezing). For this electrologist, during the initial consultation I brought this up as a potential concern and told her that I would be okay with higher intensity or time if it meant that she would be able to get cleaner releases. She said this was no problem at all.

During treatment (she said she was using microflash), she would “zap” each hair at least 2 times. On the occasions where I thought I heard the popping sound, she was hitting some of those hairs like 4 times in a row (I’m pretty sure it was the same hair anyway).

The pictures above were taken the morning after treatment.

Okay here is a better picture taken a little more zoomed in. You can see it higher resolution if you click to view the original picture in Chrome or FF.

I dont see anything to be concerned about.

The first picture of the nipple area the arrow is pointing at what looks like it could be an untreated ingrown hair. It doesnt look to me like this is the result of blowout. actually there’s no evidence this is a treated follicle

The bikini area just looks like a blood/scab filled follicle.

If there was blowout, the concern would be damaging the upper layers of the dermis, which can be very granular and pull the surrounding flesh inwards. The effects of that wouldnt be seen for months but I dont see anything that evidences such here. I dont think you have cause for concern, but I leave open some may have differing opinion. Honestly it all looks perfect!

Actually, lets have a quick look at what HF blowout is. Essentially the insertion is too shallow in the follicle, the moisture in the top of the follicle becomes superheated, and “spits” out a bit like steam or like a volcano going off. It doesnt mean that there will be a scar there. There COULD be one if too much HF is used and has effcted the surrounding tissues, but it doesnt necessarily mean it is so. I’ve done it once or twice, on faces no less, with no ill effects when I was learning thermolysis. If this was only happening on the ODD insertion, and not to any great extent, there isnt much cause for concern.

Coming in a few days … last two vids on healing. Will these clear things up? Probably not; but I hope so … at least a tiny bit of understanding.

Point is that electrolysis is a VERY deep “upside-down burn” … in your case from the deep subdermis to the upper skin (epidermis) … so you must expect to get some “lumps and bumps” … and, that’s what it does.

It’s a “controlled WOUNND” … it will all go away and heal perfectly … Don’t over think all this stuff … it will go away and so will the hairs.

Thanks for the feedback guys! Everything is looking much better today too so I’m not worried.
