No Shedding with Nd:YAG, low settings?

Hey,

I would really appreciate your help. I went for a treatment on full back, shoulders, upperarms, chest, and abs. I am type 4 skin. Thick and course hair especially on chest and abs (feels spikey when trimmed with two hairs coming out of one follicle). Shoulders and top of the back and bottom are course as well, although follicules aren’t as close to each other. There are light hair in between and on the sides (below underarms)

Its been two weeks and I haven’t had any significant shedding (like not even 5%). I kept telling them to use optimal setting although I wasnt sure whta they were. He said he makes sure to see if the hair itself reacts to the laser and not just the skin.

The setting on the Nd:YAG were 19J/16mm/40pulse width. Are those really optimal?

Did you feel pain when the laser was used? Because 19J for 16mm seems weak, I had mine on 30J at 18mm which is the highest for the 18mm.

What laser was used on you ??? Yes, settings seem a little low for Skin type 4.

Yea I did feel pain where the hair was very dense. More of a pinch where the hair was not. I had to use ice packs.

The laser that was used was DDC Technologies Polylase LP laser which has the alexandrite and the nd:Yag. They used the nd:Yag. I have fairly light skin for type iv. (meditaranean/indian)

The settings are low. Pulse width should be lower. Also, I understand why you need Ice packs, as the Cold air that blows from the DDC unit is not very strong.

I’m a skin type 4 and the only place I’ve ever had any results with a Yag is on my face where the hair is super dark and coarse. I’ve had a session on my arms and legs before and same thing barely any shedding. Avoid the sun as much as possible and use an alexandrite, or even a diode if not.
