I was posting a reply here and thought I’d ask you all if you can work out why I have no response on the knees
I am indian so very light olive skin but probably type 4 is it? dark coarse hair on the legs and knees -had 12 treatments with the nd yag (6) and 6 with the apogee yag.
I have good results with coarse hairs everywhere else - lower legs, upper legs…
just those knees! awful dark coarse hair that are visible even on shaving!
any ideas??
(i’ve had a lot of areas lasered and this area just leaves me perplexed!!)
Is the hair on this area shedding every time? One possibility is that they may be missing those spots. Maybe when your hair is shaved and you go in for a treatment, they can’t tell that there is hair there and don’t treat it well.
the hair doesn’t shed on the knees. not that I can tell.
My hair is such that i have to shave it or use a raxor lightly over it to remove the hair a week or two week(for legs) after the laser and then can see it is shed if it doesn’t grow back and normally looks cleaner…
i watch the lady do it, they section it all off with pencil so def. cover it - it is the whole knee as well - i have spoken to them about it and they see knees and elbows are stubborn, but it really looks weird - I used to have quite man like hair on my legs and now have very sparse hair on the lower legs, but awful knees which i have to shave every day and even not put them on show!
i have had 12 sessions over 2 years or so… this is on the nd yag and apogee yag - the last 2/3 were on the highest setting.
Yeah they are correct that the knee area is a particurally tough area to treat for some people, yet not for others for some reason. I can remember that was the first thing my practitioner warned me about when I wanted full leg treated, so it certainly isn’t amazingly uncommon.
If youv’e had 3-4 treatments or more on your knees (and they haven’t missed patches) and yet there is no reduction you may have to cut your losses and go for the old electrolysis.
They may also need to adjust the settings for your knees. The hair may be deeper or more shallow etc. You also say that you see some patchiness on other areas in your other posts. This is a sign that they ARE missing some areas. Technically, some clinics do touchups 3 weeks after the treatment which is when you can see what was missed. Also, you should wait about 12 weeks between your leg treatments to fully judge the reduction you’re getting. It sounds like you’re going in at least every 2 months since you’ve had that many treatments in 2 years.
