The Lightsheer is probably the best laser for your skin and hair type. The new Comet may work very well too.

I do not get laser treatments in the summer when I am tanning. But I do find that my tan gets darker in the summer after having had laser treatments. That could just be due to more even tanning after removing almost all of my upper body hair. I’m working on my legs now. To answer your question, you will need to wait about a month or so after your last laser treatment before you can tan.

You could make the ultimate sacrifice and skip one summer of tanning so you can get rid of the hair in 6-8 treatments.
I did OK skipping laser in the summer. I get very dark and retain some of my tan year-round and I had to go with a Nd:YAG laser, the Lyra-i to continue laser treatments. But I still don’t get lasered in the summer.

You will probably have to have the tatto removed (different type of laser) if you want to have that area lasered. Or you could just have electrolysis done in that area.

Thanks a lot RJC2001.

The only reason i am inquiring about the tanning is beacuse im going on a vacation and wonder if i can go shirtless wonder without worrying about ruining the treatments. How about with suncreen? If i am going to get the back of my neck done i cant really hide it during the summer…?

Also, i was wondering how much i can expect to spend to get these areas treated [per session] for quality work without getting hosed.

I there a specific liscense or designation i should look for that operator has before i choose them?

Once Again, Cheers for the Info <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

For your skin type, either an alexandrite or diode family laser would be best. An important part is also finding a good technician who is experienced and has your best interests in mind (not just their sale). I found my doctor (MD) on the Candela website (alexandrite GentleLASE manufacturer), so that’s one option. You can also look through a few of these forums for recommendations. Technicians don’t have to be doctors to perform this procedure, but I personally prefer it since it’s a medical procedure.

You shouldn’t be tanning at all during the course of your treatments (4-8 every 6-8 weeks). After you are done, you should wait at least 1 month before you can tan. Tanning can cause burns and hyperpigmentation if done during the laser treatments.

Tattoo should be covered during the treatment and I believe you can’t have laser at within at least 2 inches of it. The farther the better since laser will damage it. Your technician should know what to do with it.
