Newbie to hair removal- questions

Hello ladies and gentlemen, first post and I guess I’m just looking for some reassurance an information. Some background on me:

20 year old male, caucasian (not anywhere near pale) with coarse black hair. In general I’m on the hairy side, but what bothers me most at the moment are my eyebrows. Since I was about 12 I’ve been tweezing my “unibrow”. I started looking into hair removal possibilities around april of this year and thats when I initially stumbled onto this site, thats where I learned that I need to STOP tweezing.

Done. Stopped tweezing in mid april, thats roughly 5 months now. Since the beginning of this year, my eyebrows have ever so slightly connected with my cheeks- I’ve been shaving that whenever I shave my face and my unibrow I have to shave on a daily basis. In the last 2 weeks, I’ve noticed that I can see the follicles in my unibrow right after shaving.

Its time to take action, no longer do I want to worry about sleeping over at someones house cause I’ll wake up looking like a wilderbeast lol. I understand this will be a long term commitment and of course a rather large investment, heres what I want to know:

-Is there some sort of database with electrologists I can look into to find someone close to me?
-Are/is there an electrologist(s) that you guys can recommend in NYC or the 5 boroughs/ long island? (for those of you who are local)
-I understand that results may vary greatly, but very roughly speaking- what could I expect my treatment schedule be like for those 2 areas? I’ll throw up some pics of the “ugly” soon.
-I also understand that I’m a young guy, and I’ll have new hair develop as I age- how concerned should I be about these trouble spots and new hair sprouting down the road?
-Since I stopped tweezing 5 months ago, how much (if any) of an advantage to I have compared to if I tweezed on a daily basis and started electrolisis tomorrow? Has all the hair that belongs in that area grown back since I stopped tweezing?

Thank you for taking the time to read and answer any questions, have a good weekend!

There is also Arlene Batz in Queens.

Here are pics of the damage:

This is what I wake up with every morning…

In the 2nd pic, its difficult to see cause some of the hairs are pretty fine and this camera can’t pick that up.

Thank you for any suggestions or insight

Your eyebrows are not ugly as you described. This can easily be controlled and the hair can be permanently eliminated. One treatment can clear all the hair you want. After that, you need to go in at least every six weeks to clear new hair that will come to the surface. If you can’t wait six weeks between appointments, then it is okay to go every two weeks for a few months to keep up with new growth. I don’t see a big hurdle here for you. You just need to find an electrologist that will get the hair off ASAP to give you relief and hope.

Thanks for the pictures. You have great eyebrows. A little tweaking can be done. Expect your eyebrows to get really funky when you are an old man. I’m thinking of Andy Rooney, but he is the extreme for older male eyebrow hair, and not many men have wild and crazy eyebrows like Andy. If I were his wife, I’d be trimming that guy up at my vanity table.

Vanity table is where you get a vanity FIX. Do you want to FIX your vanity or not. Only you can tell if it is BROKEN.There is an eyebrow fad going around these days among men… I do not know how or when it started, however, ;like all fads it will go away. At least you do not have to care about a tattoo, which is a fad too, Tattoos will not go away but the skin will continue to AGE and tattoos get all wrinkly. They will look bad and beyond repair. If you are contemplating getting one… DON’T.

If you alter your eyebrows just make sure they are not FEMININE looking. Look at movie magazines to see how the male macho stars shape them and act accordingly.

Good advice, except as to check the movie magazines. Some celebrities had a bad image consultant, David Beckham is an example of what you should NOT do.

Rowan Atkinson is another one, except if you want a look like our president Zapatero.

Most of our female clients would require more work than you do!! Clearance would take 10 to 20 minutes and then 5 to 10 minutes six weekly.

If Bruce Jenner’s picture is in that movie mag, ignore his eyebrows. He ruined his looks with his feminine eyebrow job.

Thank you everyone, thats really reassuring to know that its not an overwhelming amount of work to get done. I’m kind of nervous (as I’m sure anyone is when starting this type of treatment) but I hope I’ll be rewarded in the end. I’ll look into the places mentioned above first since I want to make sure I hit the ground running with a proper electrologist.

Now if only I could get rid of the mess on the rest of my body, that would cost a fortune… HA!

My legs are out of control, from my ankles all the way up to my nether regions is just infested with thick, coarse, and dense growth… I’ve been called a “beast” before haha.

My main concern with this region is:

-Treatment would most likely take ridiculously long and be very costly. I don’t know what the difference in the amount of treatments is to have reduction vs to be hair free. I’m most likely a perfect candidate for laser in this region as my hair is very dark as well.
-As you stated, I’m certainly looking at reduction because I’d still like to have a masculine appearance.
-I think it would be kind of silly to treat such a large region when my “private area” would still have the same growth (actually much more dense growth there…) and no one in their right mind would want to “treat” that specific region let alone me getting comfortable with that idea if it was even possible.

Its funny cause I always think of it as me always wearing pants even if I’m naked.

Either way, I can think about this later on because at least I can trim that area and keep it under control sporadically… My face is a whole other story and I’m tired of dealing with that for sure.

That sounds good, 12 weeks eh? Thats not bad considering the pricing as well.

One thing I am worried about when having my eyebrows done is scarring/ major skin irritation between treatments as I’ve read about that happening here after treatments.
