New Razor

The Gillette Venus razor is favored by many bodybuilders and cyclists because it shaves very close and the handle is designed for leg and body shaving. It is easy to grip while wet so it’s perfect to use in the shower. I used the earlier Venus and liked it but switched over to the Mach 3 Turbo then the M3 Power razors as they seemed to give a closer shave yet.

After Veinlover’s posts I revisited the Venus and forgot just how good the handle was. It was easier to shave my calves and I don’t drop the razor on the shower floor like I sometimes did with the Mach 3 razors. Then I tried the Venus Divine cartridges with the low friction blades. It seemed like the Venus answser to the M3 Turbo. The shave is very close, close enough to the M3s that the handle may be the difference maker. Plus the rounded edges of the Venus make it easier to do areas like the armpits and the back of the knees where the corners of the M3s would catch sometimes.

Now Gillete has come up with the Venus answer to the M3 Power. It’s called Venus Vibrations. They took the vibrating feature of M3 Power and and added the Venus handle. It appears that they upgraded the blades too. I haven’t bought one yet. I just noticed them at Walmart today, even another guy was looking at them. I’m going to wait and see if they go on sale.

OK, there’s a sucker born every day. If I can find one, I’ll try it. It probably is incredible. Now the have new competition, from an electric man’s body shaver, http://bodygroom.philips.com/index_flash.html The message contained in the very fact of Phillips marketiing a man’s body hair shaver is remarkable, in showing just how far things have gone in terms of mainstream men shaving, or at least, trimming, their body hair. I think it is brilliant they made it a triimmer as well as a shaver, as men have a vastly easier time “trimming” their hair (manly) than shaving it (feminine). The fact that shaving was pretty well invented for men’s faces is lost below the neck. I will be very interested to see how well Phillips do with this.

Meantime, I’ll bet the best shaving product for your body now made the the Vibrating Venus. I want to try it, just to do my genitals.

Philips must have done some market research and determined that enough men are removing body hair that this would be a viable product. I wonder when this will be available in the US. The new Venus Vibrance should be available now in any discount store. Walmart has the lowest prices on it.

I was thinking the same thing. Better try that in the shower.

I purchased the Venus Vibrance at Walmart yesterday, and even got to use it, tough I had a rush job shower yesterday evening, as it was late and my wife wanted to shower after. First off, for us macho men, the thing comes only in a kind of hot pink, as opposed to the nice blues of earlier models. However, it is worth using a pink razor, as it is simply the best razor, by yards, ever made to shave your body. It is shaped like the normal Venus, but has added heft and mass due to the battery and the vibrating mechanism, and seems larger somehow. It has its own blades, to in truth they look exactly like a pink version of Venus Divine blades, so I didn’t buy any, I will use the stock of what I have for the Venus Divine.

It is the exact same mechanism as the MachIII vibrating razor, but for some reason mine has a bit of a rattle in it. When you use this on your legs or eleswhere, it feels incredibly smooth is how I would describe it. There is just something smooth and solid about how it shaves I’ve never seen elsewhere. Plus, I shaved my pits, and they got unbelievably smooth and well shaved, again the best I’ve ever got. And, I didn’t even spend much time on them, somethimes if I want them really nice I go one way, then the other, then another, etc. This was a few strokes and on to the next.

Regretably I didn’t get to try it “down there”, as that is not an area I care to do in a rush. I’ll bet it just feels smooth, however, as opposed to some sort of vibrating pleasure machine, but I will let you know. I plan a nice workout later today, then a more leasurely shave.

Go get one. It was $9 and change at Walmart, and they have lots.

Thanks for the great review. I’ll definitely have to try that one.

A few weeks ago I found some Shick Quattro for Women (4 bladed) cartridges on sale. They fit the mens’s Quattro handle and have rounded edges for reaching all the hard to get areas. The handle on the men’s and women’s versions appears to be identical. So I bought some of the refill cartridges and will be trying them next. Is four blades better than 3? Not on the men’s version although the four blades are very good.
