New LHR adventure :)

I’m going for a consultation for LHR using the Soprano XL on my chin and upper lip, the reviews seem pretty mixed on here, but its the best one i’ve found so close to home (Southampton, Hamoshire UK)

What do people think?

Be careful of LHR on the face. It has been said that LHR has induced hair growth in some women who have had it done to their face. I am using the Soprano XL for a Brazilian LHR but have opted to do electrolysis on my eyebrows and upper lip for this very reason.

If you go for it, please let us know your skin type and hair color. From what I can tell (and have read) LHR works best on pale skin and dark, coarse hair.

As for the Soprano XL, there is pain involved so all the hype about pain-free is just hype. Make sure you ask a lot of questions and feel really comfortable with the place you are going and the tech doing the work.

I’m slightly olive skin with dark course hair on my chin and lip, i go paler in winter, i’ve tried electrolysis with no success unfortunately! (period of a year):frowning: I don’t mind pain, no gain as they say

I have just had my first session, and although it was painful, was something i could cope with, likened it to a really hot lamp and and epilator being run over it along with the smell of burnt hair!! She used the single pulse handpiece and lots of cooling gel, have another appointment in 3 weeks, so by then should i have completely shed or would it be longer? Also, as i paid for 6 full lower jaw sessions, if say after 4 sessions i have no regrowth (if i’m lucky!) can i just keep the sessions for when i need a top up? Is that what people tend to do?
Will keep posted with news!

Also, what can i do to keep self esteem up whilst shedding or it growing? I’ve been told to shave not pluck (for obvious reasons) but how soon after my treatment can i do this and how often really (or is it as often as it grows if the growth is slowed)?

  1. 3 weeks is too early to go back for another treatment. You should wait at least 4-6 weeks on the face, and longer with body areas. Alopecia (shedding) only commences around 10 days after treatment, and continues for some weeks henceforward.

  2. What were the settings used on the machine?

  3. Do you know your Fitzpatrick skin type?

  4. Facial hair is notoriously difficult to treat, namely because new hairs develop over time in response to androgenic hormones. In females, estrogen production deceases with age meaning that more facial hair can develop as you get older.

  5. Re electrolysis: Were you seeing only one electrologist? I would really try to find another electrologist, as I think this would be the best option for you. That you didn’t experience permanent results most likely indicates poor skill of the operator. Perhaps others here from the UK can recommend someone in your area? If not, check out areas nearer to London (like Basingstoke) that aren’t terribly far from Southampton.

If treatments are being done correctly, hair should shed within 3 weeks and you would need to wait another 3-7 weeks for new hair to grow in. There should be no need to go in again in 3 weeks.
