New-bee in search of LHR in NYC

Hi - I’ve been contemplating LHR for a few month now and finally feel ready to make the move. I would like to treat my bikini area and underarms. What would a session for these areas cost me? My hair is dark and pretty thick. I live in NYC and the amount of places that offer LHR are overwhelming. I’m hoping someone on this forum can give me some advice on what to look for and maybe some recommendations on were to go. [color:“green”] [/color]

romeo&juliet and also Lynda (nurse) in NYC are recommended usually. read the FAQs section at the top of the forum to answer all your basic questions, including costs.

Hi. I would like to have an effective, long lasting hair removal product that I can do at home. There is a product called “Finally Free Hair Removal System” which claims that it is effective and relatively painfree. It claims to be a patented technique and approved by the FDA. Testimonials on their website make it sound like this method really works. Has anyone had any experience with this product that they can share? Thank you much!

Thanks lagirl – someone else recommended Lynda as well. I’ll look into going to her. Are laser hair removal specialists required to be a doctor or nurse?

it varies by city. I think NJ is the only state where they have to be a doctor. The most important thing to look for is experience particularly in hair removal.

Just to let you know, I’ve had treatments done at Romeo and Juliet and they are very good. The owner there, Chris, is very knowledgeable and really cares for his customers. And they also have very good equipment. (GentleLase and Apoggee Elite).

I’m new to this site. I’ve been 3 times to Assara Laser, doing their unlimited package for $599/month and getting treated on their Apogee Elite. So far great results - - but any idea how many treatments I’ll need? I’m a white female, pretty pale skin and in my 30s. They say I’ll probably need 6 or 7 treatments…

what areas are you treating? what spacing? what settings? are you seeing shedding of all hair? are you using the alex or the Yag setting on that machine?

well, i’m doing their $599 unlimited package - so i can treat as many parts as i want. im basically doing bikini (full), legs (full), arms (full) and under arms. spacing of approx 6 weeks. using the alex (was told that that’s better for my pale skin). any chance i could be done by the summer?

you won’t be completely done by the summer is you just started due to hair cycles. it takes time for the hair to cycle through and that could take up to 9 months for some hairs. 6 weeks apart is also too close for those areas. if you’re seeing shedding of all treated hair, you shouldn’t have much to treat yet at 6 weeks. cna you find out what settings they’re using (spot size, pulse and joules)? also, do you have dark coarse hair on all those areas? mostly concerned about your upper arms.
