Nervous about nerves...

Hi all,

As far as I’m aware, electrolysis is safe to use more or less anywhere on your body, but when working (on myself), for example, on the hand, I hesitate a bit, as part of the hand/arm I want to work on, has nerves and veins underneath it…

Is there a possibility I might puncture or damage them in any way when you zap the hair (even with a correct insertion)? (I prefer to use flash) Does anyone know if there’s been cases where there has been damage…?

There has not been a case of damaging nerves with electrolysis as far as I know.

You are entering a natural indentation or pocket in the skin, if you will, and should only be going so deep within that natural pocket. As electrologists, we are all over the body from delicate places like the eyebrows to tough places with deep, coarse hair like the bikini line. The probe matches the diameter of the hair and should stay within the border of the hair follicle pocket. The only nerves it comes close to are the network of nerves that surround each hair follicle at the bottom. That is why you feel sensation with electrolysis - darn it.
