need some advice

I am a male skin type II, dark hair. Have had 6 treatments with candela gentlelase, 1st -18mm 14j, 2nd 18mm 16 j, 3rd - 6th 18mm 18j. However the hair does seem to slowly grow back in weak at first then eventually darker. Would a different laser help? such as a lightsheer? a cynosure elitle mpx? ipl as in what skin clinics use as they seem to have a very good reputation?. I am currently waiting to see if this 6th treatment has done any good. Or should I continue with the laser I’m using now? would 18mm 20j make any difference? my clinic won’t push to this but is there one that will?

GentleLase is probably the best laser there is so no, LightSheer won’t be any different. What area are you having treated? Is the hair very dark and coarse? If it’s light or too fine then no laser can treat it. The settings you mentioned are all good and will produce results.

I’m having my arms treated, perhaps the cynosure elite mpx would be better? The hair is dark but not like pubic dark or coarse like that but if thats the case then then elite mpx would be better on perhaps finer hairs?however i currently shed and do get black pepperspots.

GentleLASE is still better than the MPX. GentleLASE has a fixed 3ms pulse width which is great for fine hair, Apogee machines go down to 5ms but from my experience most people won’t go that low. The MPX has a dual mode where it fires a Yag and Alex combo but that still wouldn’t really do much. If you’re not getting results on GentleLASE then you won’t get results on any machine. When we talk about dark coarse hair we mean like pubic hair. If the hair is too fine on the arms then you won’t get results. Remember laser can’t get rid of 100% of the hair.

So then why do I get pepperspots, 4 weeks of smoothness and then it starts crawling back in? do I need more treatments?

Also a lot of people have their legs done and thats not as coarse and dark as pubic hair but that is the sort of hair I have on my arms basically if you see a guy called shane dawson on youtube thats exactly what my arms look like.

How long has it been since your 6th treatment? At what intervals were these treatments made? Has the overall growth been reducing over the course of treatments or you didn’t notice drastic changes in reduction? Don’t expect 95-99% reduction. If you get 75%-80% reduction after 6th treatment consider it a success, and then maybe you can spend on 2 more treatments, but I don’t think it will be much beneficial at that point. The remaining hair will be too fine from previous treatments. I would switch to electrolysis by that point.

Between my first 3 treatments it was 6 weeks then my fourth was 8 weeks, fifth was 6 weeks, 6th was 6 weeks. Because I haven’t taken pictures I can’t be sure on my progress but it does grow back slower each time but it seems I can never get rid of these pepperspots to truly tell. However at the present time it has been 2 weeks since my last treatments and i would say that apart from maybe 30-50 hairs in total on both arms have grown back half a centimetre, the skin is smooth to touch. Its just a case of thinking how long before they grow back, you know? However myclinic have offered me a free full treatment on my arms! which is good!

And yes I findshane dawson hilarious especially his character Shanaynay! and I’m a guy from Britain

What area are you treating? Arms? What part? It’s hard to tell from what you said and this is important.

How coarse is the remaining hair? You should wait around 10-12 weeks at this point. You’re having treatments too early before the hair has time to mature into more coarse hair that laser can target well.

Do you have photos of the remaining hair? Take some at 10-12 weeks.
