Need help with understanding how to start an electrolysis business, I have to know this before starting school so I can receive a grant

I’m really sorry if this is the wrong forum, I didn’t see a more appropriate one for the topic. I currently receive SSDI & can receive help from a federal program to cover tuition & maybe more, but I have to create a full list of expenses before I can submit my paperwork & receive the funding. I need to get the ball rolling by January because I’ll only be able to save $1200 per month, and need to have about 6k saved to cover half the tuition, before I can start school in May. I even have to be able to explain, in full detail, what I plan to do after I earn my license, even if the program can’t help with the costs of starting a business.

I’m feeling really overwhelmed with having to figure everything out from start to finish, months before I even begin my education! I was hoping I could just work under someone to start out, but it seems most electrologists in my state (Arkansas) work for themselves.

I’m needing to know everything about the costs of starting/running this kind of business. What comes to mind is a business license (like an LLC?), business insurance, cost of equipment, ongoing costs like supplies & renting (a property or space in a salon?), paying taxes. Of course I’ve googled this but most of what I’m seeing only scratches the surface of what I need to know.

It would be an amazing help if anyone could give me an estimate of how much it would cost to start, an idea of what equipment/supplies I will need & where to buy them so I can figure out costs, any costs I may not have thought of. Or where I can look online to learn all of this!

Are you able to travel to a school “near” you? Texas, perhaps? You can’t do all the training online, but there are schools that offer distance learning for the theory, but you need to physically be present for the practical training.

Are there any electrologist’s in Arkansas that would be willing to talk to you about their specifics in running a business in your particular state? State laws vary. Arkansas is a licensed state for electrology, under the cosmetology board. You will need 600 hrs. Start up costs can vary greatly.
You can contact aielectrology.com (American Institute of Education) to get trained. They might be able to answer your questions to help you fill out your required form. Hopefully, a local electrologist will shine some kindness your way and offer you advice about what to expect for start up costs in Arkansas.
