Need help, help help - upper lip concerns

Hi,

I am new to this forum as a member but was browsing this as a guest for about 6 months.I have browsed the forum quite a lot to find a solution to my problem and did not wanted to repeat but couldnt find a similar case. Please help me in regard to electrolysis of my upper lips. I will be very thankful for your valuable advice.

I started electrolysis of my chin around 4 months for some coarse dark hair (20-25) on my chin and few on jaw line and for some thin longer hairs, which are almost gone now, but left some bluish/purplish spots on the chin which are not very prominent but looks like uneven skin tone.( they should disappear with time).

Also I can see some pin point marks (similar to pores) caused by insertion of probes, and had scabs
also very tiny marks (similar to scratch marks caused by nails) which I see on the skin under the chin. (not attaching pics as they are not visible in the pics)

My electrologist is very experienced, she used Apilus Platinum. she knows her work but she is not receptive, she doesn’t set any plan, she feel offended on asking something.

After looking the results I thought of getting my upper lips, which I was threading my own from last 14 years, I am 32 now. I was getting some shadow on my upper lips and grown some coarse hairs which were looking bad so thought of getting rid of them permanently by electrolysis.
My electrologist unconsiderate behaviour worries me a lot, I dont feel free to discuss with her my concerns regarding the marks/scarring I had as she feel very offended and annoyed, I once mentioned her about the blue spots, she just said " You can go to any other electrologist, its not due to my work etc etc." but I have no choice as I find other procedures like Galvanic very very painful and cant think of them for upper lips.

I am have done 2 weekly sessions of 20 mins, and planning to do same for a month of so until I go for biweekly.

My concerns are
i) If I get similar bluish spots (as on the chin) on my upper lips and they become permanent as upper lip will be getting more treatments in comparison to chin. My upper lip density is high.

ii) If I get pin points marks on the upper lips (I can see on my chin caused by insertion of probe, they are not very prominent as they are under the chin, not in the front)

iii) How can I decide to continue or stop the sessions if any damage is visible after few months.(when it cannot be reversed)

iv) what should be the frequency of the sessions for the upper lips as my electrologist doesn’t suggest much.

Thanks

The electrologist is defensive because she does not know what’s really going on with your skin. The information is all over the place, and easily accessible so there’s no excuse for her not knowing.

If you know your subject matter, and somebody asks a question … well, you just answer the question with great authority BECAUSE YOU KNOW YOUR SUBJECT!

Defensiveness and annoyance, as you have reported, are the hallmarks of ignorance (I mean "not knowing’). It’s a common human reaction and we see this all the time: especially during "election time!’

Find another electrologist. If you tell us where you are located, someone may have a reference.

Hi,

Thanks very much for taking time to reply. I saw your videos on healing. They were very motivating. Can you please tell me approximately how much time will the pin point marks more like of pits and small scratch marks will take to heal. I have those on my chin so I can make a decision (depending on their healing) whether or not should I continue electrolysis on my upper lip.

Going weekly sessions of 20 min alright or too much ?,

I once tried to discuss my concerns with her and she just said me to try some other electrologist, that was very rude.

I am in Melbourne, I couldnt find other electrologist who uses Apilus.

Thanks

These might help (don’t worry about whether or not the machine is an apilus – worry about if the electrologist is skillful):

Good luck!

Don’t worry about what machine they use. I would take a highly skilled electrologist with an older machine over someone who is unskilled, rude and condescending with the newest machine any day.
