I guess I’m writing to get some encouragement. I have a few coarse black hairs growing along a scar on my chin. Started with one when I was twelve, then I plucked, and by my mid thirties I was plucking almost every day although only 2/3 hairs each time. Finally got the courage to go to an electrologist who said that she thought I’d be hair free by 8/9 sessions every two weeks. Five sessions in she thought it might be even quicker. It’s now been 8 months and I’ve been going every two weeks and never plucked in between. Things are slightly better - I think - though it’s hard to keep track, but each time I have a few days of being completely hairless and then in the three/four days before my next appointment about 7/8 black hairs turn up. The worst is having to wait while they grow instead of just being able to pluck… Anyway - what do you experts think? I haven’t changed birth control, or gotten pregant or anything. Should I change electrologist? It seems like a very professional outfit and she’s properly registered.
Is she by any chance doing Blend electrolysis? I find that blend is great for working on hairs near scar tissue? Do you feel any tweezing sensation when she lifts the hair out? Has she shown you intact hair from a perfect bulb to the top of the hair, when she treats and lifts the hair out?
Thank you for answering so quickly. I don’t feel any tweezing sensation - but she hasn’t shown me an intact hair and I don’t know if she’s using blend. I guess I should ask.
If the follicle is distorted by scar tissue the very process of the blend method can create caustic lye heated by the thermolysis current where the lye can get into all the litle nooks and crannies of the follicle. That’s what I would choose, but I’m sure there would be some disagreement from some electrologists. If all I had was a thermolysis only epilator, I could still whack the hair. A simple talk with your electrologist may help. She may be able to do blend on you.
I think this is what may be happening. I agree with Dee, blend the best option. But if you allow your hair reaches a more advanced state, its root will be smaller and may treat with thermolysis. http://picasaweb.google.es/jm0158969/HairsAroundScarOnChin
I’m a little worried that she told you you’be be done that fast. The problem is that hair grows in cycles, so there is no way getting around being done in under 9-12 months to have a chance for all the hair to cycle through. What you see at any one time is at most 30% of the hair you actually have. The rest of dormant etc at that point.
Can you find out the name of the machine she uses and whether she is using the blend, thermolysis, or galvanic method on you? Also, does the hair slide out easily after she makes the insertions or do you feel a plucking sensation when she pulls them out?
How many hairs did you have on the area when you started? You say you have about 7-8 now, but you don’t say what was there when you started.
if you’re thinking of changing electrologists, i definitely recommend mine! her name is Sharon and she works at Parkside Beauty Centre in London. she uses blend mostly. http://www.parksidebeautycentre.com/
she is registered (as are the other electrologists there) and also does remedial electrolysis - i’ve had a few milia treated by her too.
this is the thread i started: http://www.hairtell.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/53465/4.html
my sideburns are as i want them now. all the coarse chin hair is gone and a bit more too. and i’ve been having my eyebrows done, so i don’t pluck anymore, just have them touched up every three weeks. when i have time to go every week again, i’m going to start on my upper lip.
that’s why i said i’m glad i clicked the post… i was just bored and reading random threads… never thought i would have something useful to suggest… [/quote]
And this is why we keep trying to drill it into everyone, filling in the location information REALLY IS IMPORTANT, because it allows more people here to help you out! You never know when someone who happens to know the Hair Removal Miracle Worker closest to you, may actually stumble upon your post, and be able to post a reply, complete with directions to the office.
Thank You for lending a hand. This is how this board is supposed to work. Thanks to people like you, it works for all of us.
Now if we can just get confirmation that we are talking about London England, and not London Ontario Canada.
Pssst, that means the original poster should fill in the profile location information.
To add to this, I am more inclined to offer comments when a poster puts pertinent information on areas, skin color, gender, mahines used and start dates for their electrolysis and /or laser treatments, in the signature. If I have to go on a hunt and read twenty posts to find out information, I’m less likely to get involved because it takes so much time.
