I went to this place Body Details.
They say they will give me a written contranct to remove all the hair on my face permanently.
It’s laser. They want to charge $2800 for the whole face and neck. They will do the hair removal in 8 sessions. After that, if any hair grows back, they will treat it free for life.
Just remember when getting a lifetime guarantee, the question is, “Whose lifetime?” Your lifetime, or the lifetime of the business, or even the lifetime of the current business management organization/incarnation.
I will only say that the most popular LASER provider around me would be charging that for just about 4 or 5 full beard treatments, and there would be no guarantee, and no lifetime “touch-ups”
I think for my lifetime. I placed the link there.
They seem to be charging alot.
It’s 8 treatments to take care of everything they told me.
Their site is bodydetails.com
Are you male? There is absolutely not way laser will get 100% of your hair on your face removed. That’s a ridiculously brave statement to make. How long have they been in business? Part of the issue is that you will continue to develop NEW hair with age, so there will always be something to treat. Another problem is that if you have at least an average amount of hair on your face, there is probably no way anyone will be able to get rid of almost all of it in 8 treatments. I would also read that contract carefully. I’m sure there are plenty of caveats that make the whole proposal invalid after a while. Plus, as mentioned, how do you know how long they will be in business. If they go out of business (which is probabe if they’re treating most people that come in for free as will inevitably happen with this policy after a while), then your guarantee will be worth less.
What is your goal? If you want to completely remove your entire beard, you need to be realistic, i.e. accept the fact that unless you’re willing to put in years or time and money into it, including finishing up fine hair with electrolysis, it probably won’t happen and you will probably need to come in for touchups throughout your life anyway, unless you’re on a hormonal treatment that transexuals take. Also, keep in mind that you need someone very experienced to treat this area in particular because there is a chance of patchiness occurring if some areas are missed during treatments. That can make you shave more often, not less.
You should read some past stories on this forum from men who had their facial hair lasered. It will help you decide whether you want to do this and what’s the best way to do it. Usually, what laser is good for in your case is getting someone very experienced with male beards to treat you, so that the density is reduced without patchiness and you will have to shave a lot less often.
Also, you didn’t mention anything about what laser type they’re using or what your skin type is, which tells me you may not have done enough research. Where are you located?
Hi. Thanks.
I’m located in Miami.
I don’t know what laser type http://www.bodydetails.com/ uses.
I am male with white skin, and black hair.
I joined this forum back in 2002 under a different name when I found out I was scammed out of $900 from somebody who claimed she could permanently remove all of my facial hair with transdermal electrolysis. I only got $400 back in court.
Anyway, this laser place does alot of people. It’s very popular. I still don’t know all the details like what laser type they use. They said it doesn’t do one hole at a time, but targets a small region. How can I tell if its legit? My goal is to remove all of the hair on my face and neck (beard area) except for my eye/eyebrows. I’m still very unsure about all this.
Call them and ask which laser(s) they use.
No laser treats one hair at a time. Spot sizes range from 18mm down to 9mm. Bigger is better.
Read the FAQs linked in lagirl’s post above.
Don’t go into this until you truly understand that a laser will never get give you 100% removal.
Don’t let a promise of free “lifetime” treatments influence your treatment. It’ll never happen. Either they will go out of business or deem you an undesirable customer as another poster is dealing with.
Actually, I have seen LASER systems that did have insertable probes and worked one hair at a time, but I did not beleive that anyone bought them, and I don’t believe that they are currently being sold brand new.
Seems like I heard a while ago (like in the late '90’s)that the University of Michigan was researching the laser probe possibility for treating one hair at a time, but they were using GLASS probes that would constantly break. So that idea was abandon. Does that ring a bell with anyone?
Yes, I’m familiar with those lasers as well. I don’t think they were even put into the category of the first generation lasers.
I only know of one practice in my area that still has a ruby. I don’t think he ever uses it for hair removal since he has GentleLASEs and CoolGlides. Maybe if a true type I walked in. And the way my legs looks right now, I could be a candidate.
Please read what Chance said above and the FAQS linked in my post.
As we all mentioned above, laser will NOT get you 100% removal. If you’re not willing to accept this fact, you’re going to be dissappointed no matter what.
I would personally run away from a place that promised me that. That would tell me that either they are clueless, don’t have any experience, just want my money, or all of the above.
How do you know that “everyone goes” to this place? Is that what they told you? Are you assuming that because they advertise a lot? If you actually know that many people who went there, did they get the results they were looking for? I would assume you wouldn’t be asking us about this place if you knew people who did.
To start, please call them and ask what the name of their laser machine is.
Also, have a consultation at Ideal Image. At least they have the best lasers on the market. Hopefully, they will tell you the truth about not being able to get to 100% removal, no matter what.
I’ll check out Ideal Image. Thanks. I’m not sure what you mean by 100% removal. Do you mean permanent? Do you mean that the laser treatments will not result in 100% permanent removal of the hairs trated? Or do you mean that it will only remove some precent of the hairs permanently, but all the hairs? Like maybe it will permenantly remove 50%, and not 50%. What does “laser will not get you 100% removal” mean exactly?
Thanks for all the advice btw!
It’s been helpful so far.
I’ve read the FAQ. I will go to idealimage, and find out what machine they use, what they are offering, and how much they charge.
All the hair on your face = 100%
Also, go to the Candela Corporation website and run a provider search for GentleLASE with your zip code. You should check out 3-4 clinics before you decide. You may also want to consult with Judy Adams in St Augustine. You need someone very experienced to treat a male face in order to receive an even reduction. Patchiness will not be a fun result.
Hi. Thanks. I did the search for GentleLASE, and came up with a bunch of places. I have lots of research ahead of me. I’m still not sure if laser would be better than electrolysis.
Would anybody know if laser can really be permanent like electrolysis?
Here is the list that I came up with. If anybody has any experience with any of these places, I would really like to know. Thanks!

Well, I have information. If you read the link below with my story, you will see that I have had both laser and electrolysis done, and have had great results with both. The key is picking the right method for the right type of hair, skin, and area. Areas with dark coarse dense hair should be treated with laser. Areas with finer, sparse, light, etc hair, as well as small areas (especially where precision is important) should be treated with electrolysis.
Also, a male face is hard to treat and requires specific experience and knowledge treating this area. I would only do it with a very experienced technician, specifically on this area.
The best way to find reviews of these places is to run a search for each one on this forum using the Advanced search feature at the top right. There have definitely been postings about Ideal Image in Miami. Judy Adams who I mentioned above is one of the best in the industry. I would definitely consider driving out there. Treatments are spaced 2-3 months apart, so it’s not that inconvenient even if it is an hour away.
