Need advice about Candela Gentlemax.

I am a newbie to laser hair removal and will getting a Brazilian laser hair removal done in two weeks. I have been reading this awesome board getting some great info, but I have some questions about the Candela Gentlemax laser and some basic other questions that I hope someone might be able to answer. Please forgive me if I am repeating questions that have already been answered somewhere on the board. I looked, but was unable to find answers to the questions below.

About me: I am a Fitzpatrick type I-II with fair skin and dark hair. I have had laser hair removal done once before (upper lip) so I am a little familiar with it, but that was 12yrs ago.

Questions:

-From what I have read the Candela Gentlemax is a combo (yag/alexandrite) laser. Can this laser just do straight alexandrite or is it always a combo of the two? From what I have read it seems like I would get better results from alexandrite only.

-What are the joule setting, spot size, pulse width, fluente and number of pulses? From what I have read the Gentlemax spot size is 18mm, but that is all I really know. In reading other’s posts it seems like the higher the joule the more effective the laser is on the hair, is this true? What is the highest joule on the Gentlemax? I have a high pain tolerance and will be using numbing cream so pain won’t be an issue, but also don’t want to get burned (if this is possible) I am asking this because I don’t want the laser tech to put the laser on a low setting so I have to purchase more sessions.

-When you are getting lasered is it possible to tell during the session if a spot was missed? I am reading a lot of posts lately about spots getting missed and don’t want that to happen to me, so if there is any way of knowing this I would like to know what to look for.

-Ideally how many weeks between sessions should I wait when doing a bikini area? It seems to be different ranges for face, legs etc, but didn’t see specifically bikini anywhere.

Any other info on the Candela Gentlemax or tips/advice about getting a Brazilian laser hair removal done would be greatly appreciated!

THANK YOU!!!

For someone who is skin type 1-2, we would suggest an 18 mm spot size and a high fluence to give you good results.
