Need A Question Answered??

Im a 20 year old male and have been tweezing my eyebrows for about 3 years now. Its come to the point where im really self consious about people knowing i tweeze…especially since when i speak to people i see them looking at my eyebrows. I’m really over tweezing and would like to try and find a more permanent solution.

I’ve gone to the next step up from tweezing and decided to get my eyebrows shaped and plucked through waxing. The first time i had it down i thought i was onto something great…that is until i noticed that under my eyebrow my skin colour is noticeably whiter than the rest of my face. Great! something else to let people know i remove my eyebrow hair. I’ll admit that initally waxing was great,it was like having a new set of eyebrows attached…lol

I’ve had my eyebrows waxed 3 times in totall, and now to add to the noticeable discolouration, i’m getting the regrowth hair making an appearance to make things worse. So now i have lots of little tiny hairs still inside the skin which i cant pluck or wax.

Im getting paranoid just thinking about it, so i’ll just ask my question already.

If i’m to consider electrolysis, does that mean im going to have to stop plucking and waxing, and let all the unwanted hair i’ve been hiding for years completely grow?..please say no.

An electrologist can treat hairs you can’t see. If you came into my office today, I would clean up all those smaller hairs leaving you with the shape you paid to have outlined. In a few hours, no one would know that you had done anything to it. You just have to keep up with it every 3 to 6 weeks, or you will be back to having small hairs sticking out. In about 9 months, you won’t have anything other than a possible quick 5 minutes left to do here and there.

Well im liking the sound of it already…lol

To remove hair from the eyebrows below and above the arch…is electrolysis the best method?, or would laser be more effective because it can target larger areas of hair?

Or

Is it possible to mix both methods together…laser first and then follow up with electrolysis or vice versa. What would be the advantages of this idea?

I wouldn’t put lasers near my eyes to shape my eyebrows.

Hardcore laserists on this site will tell you the same, as would anybody you approach about performing the treatment.

Do you consider the area around your eyes a large area? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

I don’t know the electrologist who could not erase any notion of eyebrows utilizing blend or thermolysis in one sitting! Could you have more than one thousand hairs total in both brows put togther?

Where is your office?

I wouldn’t say my eyebrows are that bad…im just a very self consious person so to me its a big deal.

Can anyone give me some tips on choosing an electrolysis for this procedure…what should i ask, or look for before committing?.

also, the number one advice given here: Try more than one electrologist before deciding on The One. It’s the best way to find out who is the best person for you. You can report back here what each electro was like and we’ll tell you if they seem to be good.

Thanks for the link and all the info.

I have another question…its been said that having tan skin affects the outcome for laser treatments…what about electrolysis?

Pre-treatment one is not supposed to tan 24 hours to 3 days prior to treatment because tanning contributes to dehydration, and will at least lower the moisture content of the skin, thus requiring the electrologist to turn up the power higher than if one did not tan. It doesn’t make the treatment less possible, however.

Post-treatment, tanning can cause freckling of the skin in the treatment area, and if that happens, one will need about 3 months to loose the pigmentation.

As an electroligist is your job made more difficult with a patient that has a tan?..in terms of seeing the finer hairs and what not?

I can’t speak for electrologists using 3 diopter circle lamps. Since I use a Stereo Microscope, I see every freckle and clear vellus hair you have. The most important thing is to stay well hydrated, and if you want sensation to be a minimum, stay of stimulants. and get a good night’s sleep.

As far as tans go, you are just more healthy without them, even though fashion says things like “nice healthy tan” no one would really be ablet to sell them by saying, “Nice dehydrated skin courting cancer.”

Which method of electrolysis is best for the eyebrow area…thermolysis etc…
