My Story

Hi guys – firstly I would like to say hello to the forum, I spent hours recently checking this site, so thought I would join.
It’s nice being able to share and comment on each others stories and problems.
I hope over time I can share my stories and experiences with you all.

Im 23 from England and have recently finished a treatment of 4 courses of laser hair removal, on my upper arms and back. I am having a top up on my upper arms next week. I am also having a consultation to get my chest and lower arms done. I am pleased with my results so far – but I know it’s a long process and it takes time and it wont get resolved over night. I am being treated by the Alexandrite laser on a high level of intensity.

This is something that has bothered me for years – causing depression and constant worry for me. I lack in self-confidence and find it hard to feel comfortable in myself and around others.
My family and girlfriend say that I worry to much and that I look normal – I probably do but I just cant stand body hair. I just look in the mirror and think why me, I just want to be hair free and feel happy with myself.

I nice that im not the only one with this problem so I look forward to speaking to you all.

Hi… I’ve been an electrologist for 27 years and just retired. I worked for a Dermatologist for 10 years.Neither of us ever used a laser to remove hair. We know women want to REMOVE IT PERMANENTLY and we could not guarantee this so we never resorted to lasers. It is a big money maker for the office if we were to do it but, ethically, we could not. We used lasers for other procedures but not PERMANENT hair removal. In the USA it is against the law to advertise PERMANENT or PAINLESS because it is NOT and FDA regulations prohibit this because there is no proof this is correct.

Hello Anderson… You descibe your hair as being ALL OVER YOUR BODY. are you referring to the fuzz on your body or is there a lot of dark long hair(1/4 or 1/8 inch or longer). Females grow hair in a different pattern than males. If you are growing long hair or darker hair in places where women do NOT grow hair but men do… you might have a treatable MEDICAL PROBLEM that is usually treated with pills. You are in the age group (23) where the symptoms of POLY CYSTIC OVARIAN SYNDROME SURFACE in a doctor’s office. This is common and ocurs in about 20% of all women to some degree (mild, moderate or severe). It STARTS WHEN YOUR PERIODS BEGIN. Usually there is irregular periods, or skipperd periods and often cessation of periods. Periods can include some, but not all, of the following symptoms… heavy flow, scant flow, painful flow, some skin eruptions that are similar to acne, weight gain, infertility (you wont know this untill you try lo become pregnant. If you already have kids it is because you had them before you became infertile).

There is a second condition that is similar except for 4 other symptoms. It is called ADRENOGENITAL SYNDROME and the patient is born with it. The symptoms are virtually the same as the first one except for the following… the bra cup size shrinks, the voice may become deeper, the clitoris becomes larger, and there is enlargement of the adrenal glands. Both disorders are treated with pills and can be detected with blood tests. Both conditions are usually noticed by patients when hair growth becomes severe enough to create a problem for the patient.

Why the laser rant? This person says that it’s working. And it is permanent in the right hands and with the right machine. Please read the FAQs below to learn the facts about laser.

Also, I think you completely misread the OP’s post because you were concentrating on your rant. OP is a male. Or maybe you’re just pasting the same rant on every thread? This forum is meant to be informative and provides facts. Please read some more, learn the facts and try not to mislead the posters.

Harvey (lefty) has always been critical of lasers. Now that he’s retired, I imagine we’ll be seeing a lot more of him.

So true. I have a problem with old information being put on here to perhaps, scare people or to protect one’s monetary territory. Laser’s have been improved since they were introduced for hair reduction in the late '90’s. For that matter, may I include electrolysis epilators? Professional epilators have been vastly improved for comfort, speed and deadly efficiency to get hairy people to their goal in a better way than what was available 20 years ago. Medical grade magnification, meaning, the quality that surgeons and dentists use, enhance the microsurgery process. Yes, electrologists perform microsurgery on individual hair follicles, thousands of them everyday.
