My Story: Electrolysis Tampa Fl

I am 20 years old (female) and have been struggling with unwanted hair for years. It all started in middle school when some girls who didn’t like me decided to make fun of me and tell my crush that I had a mustache. Up until then I had never noticed it. I then became obsessed with getting rid of any unwated hair. Little did I know that shaving would only make matters worse. Over the years I started to get thick coarse hair on my neck, side burns, chest, and breasts. It is my biggest insecurity. lately I have been plucking but I’m left with tons of ingrowns. I wont let my boyfriend see me naked with the lights on because I’m so embarrassed. I’ve developed scars on my breasts from all the plucking and I wont go to the beach because of how ugly my bikini line looks with bumps, ingrown hairs, and scarring. Sometimes Ill go days not leaving my house to let the hair grow so that i can get rid of it again. I wont have sex with my boyfriend unless all the hair is gone but I cant shave too often because the hair is so thick and it curls and my skin just cant take constant shaving. He’s starting to think that I’m not sexually attracted to him and I can’t bring myself to tell him the truth.

The hair that was once peach fuzz on my cheeks and under my chin is now starting to get thicker and I can’t take it anymore. I have gone to the doctor and there is nothing medical causing my problem. I have decided to get rid of it once and for all.

My main priority is my facial hair and breasts. I was thinking laser hair removal at first but I’m afraid that it won’t give me the permanent results I want and that it’ll make the thin hairs thicker like I’ve heard it can.

I found an electrologist in my area (Tampa fl). Her name is De Jonge Noemi Fernandez and I was wondering if anyone on here knows anything about her. All of the reviews I found were excellent and she has over 20 years of experience.

I can post pictures later on but I plucked it all out today.

Questions:
Do you normally pay per session or do you pay for it all at once?

How often do you go?

Would it be a good idea to do laser first on bikini to minimize thick hair then do electrolysis for hair left over?

Do you pay per session or per area?

Electrolysis is normally paid for by the hour, not the area. Some practitioners will offer (discounted?) package prices for up front payments, but many do not.

It is my opinion that you should NOT do any LASER at all as it could make your problem worse, or at the least, it can complicate electrolysis done after the LASER treatments. This can be either because of stimulated growth in the area causing there to be more hairs to remove, or causing the follicles to be changed, requiring more treatment energy, and more difficult insertions. This would be a real problem if the LASER treatments gained no appreciable reduction, and even if it does, if it slows down the electrolysis, what have you gained over what you could have done with just electrolysis alone? If your practitioner can handle the amount of treatment you need, just go with it.

Your case is NOT a case for laser; ONLY electrolysis at this point.

Electroylsis will “work through” all the time you have spent “mangling” your hairs and distorting your follicles. It will not be an overnight success, but electrolysis is your only viable option. Stop stressing and get going on your project.

Leave all your “angst” behind and just do it. Think of this as something “outside the self” and work to not allow any more “psychological junk” to mess you up. It’s simply what “you have!” Own the problems and solve it. Just think “matter of fact” and not “the end of the world.”

Trust me, there are more “difficulties” awaiting you in your young life. The really “big stuff” has not hit yet! But it will. Find a nice “tough” electrologist that will take-on your situation, and follow her directions. I have heard about De Jonge and she has a good reputation.

You know what? Stressing does not help solve the problem. Getting treatment does! All of this will make you a stronger and better person.

I concur with my two gentlemen electrologist colleagues in all that they said. Very nice and very helpful.

Luna,

For your bikini line, electrolysis can certainly be the full ticket, but many find that lasing the area with a series of 4-6 treatments will knock out perhaps 90% of the hair. THEN… you have an electrologist go in for the refining part to eliminate 100% of all the hairs that remain. Laser and electrolysis are great partners to help the hairy. I have seen this plan repeated over and over again and it works!
