My soultion in time of dispair? - Laser disaster

Hello Evreyone!

PELASE PELEASE ADVIDE ME!! Any comments will help

I am a 21 year old female. I had it all going for me in terms of professional school, my undergraduate graduation coming up in June, the best family and true friends a girl could ask for, and finally a great hair cut!

My one problem, being a girl of Indian decent with fair skin and BLACK HAIR, I had really long side burns and facial hair. It was fine hair so bleaching worked until was about 16. Then I moved to threading. I was so happy…no more teasing and taunting with nick names like “bic” (you know the razor company). I would thread once very 1-3 weeks and bleach in between. No problem until I was almost 21. A few hairs on my chin started to get course and I felt like I was getting ingrown hairs that were leaving big brown/black scars on my face. I DECIDED TO GET [size:17pt] LASER _ MY PERMEMNAT SOLUTION. YEAH RIGHT . THE [size: 17pt] BIGGEST MISTAEKE EVER!! I had one treatment September 19th - a few days before my 21st birthday. The hair initially grew back thin after shedding but the I noticed the hair getting REALLY THICK and CORSE!! I NEVER WENT BACK FOR ANOTHER THREATEMNT. NOW after going back to threading and bleaching i am screwed. The hair will not respond to the bleach and I look like a mutant.

I am seriously considering electrolysis now. but after my laser experience i have reservations. Here are some questions. Can anyone [size:17pt]please please help me. Any suggestions comments and personal experiences are helpful.

  1. I read posts and heard some say laser is not good. But I also heard that laser can be helpful if your in the right hands. I went to UCLA and thought i was in the best hands. Well it did not work out. It actually made it worse. Was a manageable problem pre-laser, is now unmanageable after laser.
IWANT TO PREVENT THIS PROBLEM WITH ELECTROLYSIS. BUT IT FEELS LIEK IT SGONA BE THE SAME THING HAPPENING. Some people say electrolysis does not work. Others say it will work if in the RIGHT HNADS. How do I know im in the right hands. I thought I was in teh right hands when I went tot UCLA for laser. I dont wanna make the same mistake. [size:20pt]Can someone please advise me on my current electrolysis plan below.
  • I went to a board certified electrologist.

  • I think I want to do three treatments a week for as long as my schedule will permit. I want to treat right side of my face (cheek and sidebrun) once a week, the left side of my face once a week, and my neck once a week. Does that sound like a good schedule?

  • Then I plan to bleach in between sessions.

  • I had a test patch done with a little discomfort from the needle. No serious pain.

  • She wears gloves, uses wrapped & sterilized needles tweezers each tine, magnifying glasses, and a NEW NEEDLE each time.

  • I am very comfortable with her. She has another post laser girl she is working on in addition to me.

  • The is relatively close to home and very close to the new school I will be starting in August so its gonna be REALLY EASY for me to COMMIT to the one year it may take.

  • I am ready to go in 3 times a week for now, and then as least 1 time a week for the next year. But Im gonna go in at least 3 times a week untill my graduation in june.

  • [size:14pt]My electologiat graduated from a school in Long Beach California in 2002. She uses “Flash thermolyis” He machine is a “Apilus senior II” She sayas it’s the “middle grade machine” She has had it since 2002.

DOes this sound like a good plan?

Thank You for you help and support!

Yes, definitely. I see laser-induced hair growth clients as well and electrolysis will work for you. Too bad it wasn’t your first option. This is not a hard area to get looking great in a short amount of time.

I’m glad that you have come to hairtell for good, honest information. Keep educating yourself. Nothing you reported about this present electrologist sounds fishy.

ELECTROLYSIS WORKS 100% of the time on every skin color, every hair color and any thickness of hair as long as you have a skilled practitioner and you keep to a schedule. If one thing is out of line, it won’t work for you or anybody else.

she sounds like a good electrologist. how are the treatments? if you don’t feel any plucking, that’s good. hairs should slide out easily after being zapped. i would still sample a couple more just to compare speed etc. This machine and method is good. You need to come in as often as possible in the beginning to get to a clearance, so that you’re only coming in afterwards to get the new hairs that pop up and you will be on your way if you stay on this schedule.

p.s. the clinic you are talking about is absolutely not affiliated with UCLA. they rent an office at the plaza and use the name “located at ucla medical plaza” to fool people. they also use a bad IPL machine and charge crazy prices. please don’t think that you got a good laser treatment there. it wasn’t. plus, with indian skin, you shouldn’t ever be using an IPL, especially on your face.

electrology is the best! Good luck!

lagirl and Dee…

My specific electrologist name is Adela Rullan. Doues anyone know if shes a good person to go to.By the way- she also said that I was free to sit in the waiting room and talk to clients reagrding their threatment if I pleased.

Evryone says that electroyis will work if I am with a skilled person. Is she the skilled one that will solve my probelem? Is there way to tell?

I don’t know her or what kind of work she does, wt. I did read her website and nothing about it raises my attenna. Try her out.
Do read hairtell so you get a basic understanding of good electrolysis care and healing outcome. And, I would talk to people in the waiting room if she has invited you to do so, but they may be a little inhibited since she is on the other side of the door. Maybe you could excahnge phone numbers instead??
