My personal story. Help!

Hello,

I don’t know if I should try laser again. I really want to get rid of the hair. There are so many sports and things I want to do and cant, because of the hair.

8 or 6 months ago, I had laser done for like 2 years and a half. I was getting soprano xl in Chic era in Toronto. (If any one has had any experiences with that place, please let me know as well).
I got rid of probably 20% in some areas and nothing in other areas. They were setting up the machine in 8J most of the times. I have skin type 3 I think.

I went to a dermatologist so see what she would recommend. She said I should try another laser, but she didn’t know if it would really help. Since I’m a male, I got my hormones checked and they are fine, but still I’m really hairy.

Now, I have a few questions:

  1. Should I try laser again or am I one of those people where laser does not work on them?

  2. If I try laser again, and want to get from a 60% to 80% reduction. Do you think it would take more than a year? Like 2 or 3?

  3. What laser would you recommend?

  4. Can anyone recommend an affordable and good place to get laser done in Toronto, Canada?

Thank you for taking the time to read my post,
I really need the help.
Thanks,
David

Soprano XL is a laser with very few good reviews since a lot of technicians struggle with using it. There are a number of recommended Toronto clinics on the forum. If your hair is very dense and coarse, you should experience a good reduction. Someone on this forum recommended Evropa Laser in downtown.

Post a photo of how your hair and skin type looks. I would wait longer than 8 month to consider laser again because you might have more hair still growing in from under-treatment. 2 years of laser is about right time of commitment. 8 weeks between treatments 6-8 treatments max. 8j is under-treatment and Soprano is not a true laser. Soprano is very common in Canada and results reported here are not good. You need to find a place that has Alexandrite and ND:Yag lasers with 18mm spot size.

Have you tried getting at least some of your money back?

  • What areas are you looking to treat?

  • Is the hair coarse and dense? Can you post photos?

Thank you everyone for your replies.

I want to have my back, shoulders and upper arms done.

Some of the hair is finer in places, but you have enough coarse hair to get decent results. But your skin looks on the darker side. You probably need a Yag laser at aggressive settings. Definitely stay away from the Soprano. There are lots of discussions on Toronto clinics on the forum. Run a search for recommendations.

Would this machine work?

Our Cynosure Elite Laser System has a 755 Alexandrite and a 1064 YAG wavelength, which is the most advanced technology available. What that means is we can effectively treat any skin type without complications or adverse side effects with the energy levels required to disable the hair follicles.

Also, what do you mean decent results?

Like a 80% reduction?

Thanks,
David

It’s a combo machine that has both alex and Yag capabilities. The machine is good, but it’s important that the person using it knows it well and knows how to set the settings properly. Yes, I think 80% is reasonable, but once again, everything will depend on settings.

Thank you SOOOOOO much.
