I just wanted to start a separate thread to document my progress with laser. As I mentioned in my other posts I have been going to Romeo & Juliette laser center in NYC.

I am a type IV, and was treated with GentleMax on yag settings 28J for my first treatment on lower legs.This was on June 30th 2010.

I went in for a touch up 3 weeks later on July 19 2010. By then almost all hairs had shed. I could have gotten away with not having a touch up. I did have some pepper spots or stubbly looking dots throughout my legs, but they have been going away since my touch up. I was treated with an Elite Yag laser on 35-40J for my touch up. It wasn’t as painful as the 1st treatment except for the ankles.

I will be going for my 2nd treatment at the end of august. I am extremely happy with Romeo & Juliette laser so far. I will try to upload pictures later on into my treatments.

Ok so i finally went in for my 2nd full session on October 4, around 12 weeks since my first treatment. I already had full growth by 10 or 11 weeks. But I enjoyed almost the entire summer hair free!

For my second treatment I was treated with a Yag laser at 25j i think. Honestly, i wasn’t to preoccupied with the details this time. I was more nervous about the pain. It did hurt alot but I was expecting it. The tech was super nice though and helped me through the pain lol. She worked quickly and thoroughly. I had the usual redness and tenderness afterward but it faded a few hours later.

Its been a week since treatment but still no shedding. I haven’t been exfoliating every day so I think I will start to help the process along.

So 25J on GentleMAX Yag portion. Can you find out the spot size? Was it 18mm or 15mm or something else? Without that info and the pulse width, it’s impossible to judge this setting.

Sorry I forgot to ask about settings. I think the screen read 25 j 5 ms 2.0 but I don’t know what these numbers mean.

5ms is the pulse, which is good and low. You have to ask about the spot size. You can call and ask if you want.

I will try to remember to ask next time. I actually have a touch up schedule for tomorrow at 3 weeks. I’m glad to say that all hairs have already shed completely, except for a few random hairs here and there. Things seem to be going really well I’m so excited.

Its been 5 weeks since my 2nd laser treatment on my lower legs. Had touch up at 4 weeks. Everything is looking good so far. All hairs shed by the 3rd week and random missed hairs were burned off during the touch up session. I’m pretty much clear for now except for some pepper spots here and there.

Hello! Just wanted to give a quick update. It has been a while since I have been on HT. So I had 3 laser session on my lower legs so far, with touch ups in between. All at R&J laser. It’s been almost 16/17 weeks since my last real session!! I have been so busy with work, college and graduation.

However, I’m loving my results so far! I had really thick hair all over my legs especially around my ankles before i started. I’m talking about beard-like thick hairs, with like three hairs coming out each follicle. Now, even after 16 weeks since my last treatment I only have medium to fine hairs randomly covering my legs. Plus the hair is soft to the touch, unlike the cheese grater stubble I had before. If my permanent results are anything like the small regrowth I have now I will be very pleased. Can’t wait to go in for my 4th session.

Anyone ever wait this long in-between sessions?

Yup, I have done.

I stopped at 3 sessions for the lower legs. If the hairs are fine to medium and sparse then a 4th treatment probably won’t do much. I found the lower leg to be pretty much stable. The front thigh had some medium-thick hairs come through later and I had 4 sessions there. I feel they just didn’t respond as well to Laser so I didn’t bother with a 5th treatment there.

Hi stoppit&tidyup I’m glad you have had good results with your treatments. I have been following your treatment diary since we have similar skin color.

I probably could stop legs and move on to another area but i still want to tackle some of the darker hairs that I have. I don’t mind getting more treatments just to be safe lol.

I want to do underarms next. why did you say you only had okay results up to 6 treatments on underarms?

Yeh. I decided the hairs I had left did not justify the amount spent for the whole treatment. So I’d rather go for electrolysis, which I’m sure will cost a lot less. I haven’t done it yet as it’s not a priority but I will get around to it eventually.

After 6 treatments I had about 20% hair left I would estimate. But most of it was medium or fine, so again, I did not see further Laser working. I feel it it was going to give me close to 100%, it would have done within 6 treatments. So I finished off my underarms with electrolysis. There are large patches of my lower leg that are hair free in just those 3 treatments.

However, it may have been the 3/4 arms I was talking about for ‘okay’ results?

16 weeks is fine for legs which have long hair cycles. You should try to go in now for the next treatment or you’ll miss the cycle.

How long has it been? Do you have visible coarse hair left? How many treatments have you had overall?

I had 3 full treatments with touchups and it has been 17/18 weeks since my last Full treatment. I have full new growth of medium to fine hairs. Maybe some medium to course around ankles. Nothing compared to what I started with

You should ask your clinic, but sounds like you should get a treatment now.

I had my 5th session on December 2nd 2011. Its been 22 weeks since last treatment. I know its been a long time and I will be going in for next session soon.

Since last treatment I only have fine-medium hairs all over lower legs. This is more than I could hope for compared to what I started with.

At this point Im not sure if my 6 session will be my last, because I have hair all over legs but they are medium/fine. probably wont respond to treatment any more.I will ask romeo and juliet clinic for their opinion.

Here is a photo at 19-20 weeks since last session. I didn’t shave at all since last treatment and this is fully grown hair.
