Clients almost always say, “Just get the big hairs in the middle; don’t worry about the light ones.” This is especially true with male clients and chest hair: they focus on the dense hair in the center.
The second photo shows my client a few months after his 3rd clearance (photo-1 is the before photo). The second photo is not all that clear, but with the middle section nearly clear, the fine hairs at the periphery were very noticeable. So now the guy looks like he has a clear “landing strip” down the middle of his belly!
I always warn clients that, indeed, they can “get away with” one clearance (maybe even two), and the area will look normal with the remaining thinned-out hairs. However, they never believe or listen to me, “Just clear the dense area and I’ll be fine with it.” They never are!
In this case, it did work out, because after zapping the scant hairs in the center, I spent the majority of our time clearing the tiny “framing hairs” … that the client had not realized were there in the first place. (“Sequoia effect.”)
So, this is a warning of sorts … especially for young men who have a hair pattern (chest or belly) that is not yet fully grown in: those “tiny hairs” will either increase in size … or end up looking like a frame around a perfectly clear area. Nice clear “landing strip!”
Note: this client presented pimple-like lesions. He is being treated with prednisone for a non life-threatening autoimmune disorder. The medication did not effect the treatment; well, actually less inflammation than normal.
