My general comments on my experience (in Chicago)

First off, I wish I had keep better records as some of you have. I started laser treatment several years ago. The first practitioner was a doctor. Andrea gave a lukewarm recommendation to the office where he practiced ( Jerome Gardner MD in Chicago). I went to Gardner’s office because he is a well-regarded dermatologist and had treated my dad. His colleague was an expert in the laser field. He did 3 test patches but was not satisfied with the laser. I gave up on this group because I thought even if we began it would take forever.

Then, based on a recommendation here, I called Lakeview Laser Clinic. I was treated by a nurse who was excellent. She basically did from my toes to bikini line and once on my forearms. I think it was the coolglide because it shot out a burst of cold, then the laser. I think I went 4 times and I got some good deals. The last time I went they had a new person, not a nurse, and the doctor had sold his practice to Pure and would be the medical consultant at Pure.

I met with the Pure consultant because I was also interested in facial treatments via laser. I wasn’t too fond of the consultant. She was kind of a sales type and very phony. I did sign up for some packages. I liked the service despite the consultant. I think I had one more treatment to the forearms and two on the underarms. These lasers used a gel but the results were the same. The consultant also gave me a freebie on my chin. This knocked out a few hairs leftover from electrology.

I liked Pure but I never had the same practitioner twice. They have tremendous turnover. I began with nurses, then experience estiticians (sp?) and finally someone a few years out of cosmetology school.

I have some think brown hairs left on my legs and I want to finish my underarms. I am not sure where I will go. I am trying to find out if Lakeview Laser Clinic is still in business.

I have light skin and dark, thick corse hair. Laser has been a miracle for me. I had horrible razor burn because the hair was straining the follicle when it grew out and created large red bumps. It is very expensive as I have probably spent a few thousand $s but I have looked at it like plastic surgery.

I recommend laser but admit it is hard to find the right practitioner. I will post my results if I find someone to work with.

Finally, I also like like laser facials and am looking for a good place for that too. Does anyone know of a site for other cosmetic treatments that is as good as hairtell?

Thanks!!!

Dr Michael Green in Chicago has been highly recommended here. You may want to check him out. He has GentleLASE alex, one of the best lasers for your skin type.

Thanks lagirl. I will call tomorrow and let you know. His website looks good. Maybe I am squeamish but I feel funny about a man working on me. I will ask if they have any women operators.
