My first electrolysis experience!

Hey guys!

I’ve been lurking here for a loooong time and you guys are the reason I discovered electrolysis <3

I had my first consultation yesterday and it went… Not very well. The lady seemed like she knew what she was doing, has 15 years experience etc. I had a bunch of questions prepared that I found on this forum and I knew what response I was looking for… I asked her how many hairs per minute she can get (I didn’t mind if she said one hair every 30 mins, as long as it worked) but she didn’t know and then she went on to talk about clearances and when asked how long it would take to clear the hair (naval line of hair) she said that it’s impossible to say as it depends on regrowth. According to her, each follicle would have to be zapped countless times and the hair WOULD grow back but each time would get thinner/weaker. She also said large areas (torso) were Impossible to clear and I should wax instead.

She removed two hairs to show me how it would feel and she tweezed both these hairs. The second one came out a lot easier and she asked if I wanted a 10 min session, which I agreed to because it seemed like the 1st one was an accidental tweezing. Turns out it wasn’t and she tweezed every single hair out after that, which hurt more than the actual electrolysis charge(?). At the end of the appointment she told me to call back in 2 weeks to begin the next treatment after the hair grew back.

I know that’s not how a treatment is supposed to work, there shouldbe little resistance from the hair upon being tweezed (right?) and it left me SO discouraged. I don’t plan to go back to her and there are only 2 other electrologists close enough to me. I can’t travel very far and I was really hoping she would be THE ONE.

Anywho, was just looking for some advice on this really… Am I one of those annoying clients who thinks she knows it all when really the electrologist is in the right? And if anyone has any recommendations of a good electrologist in the dewsbury west Yorkshire area please let me know!

Oh some details; 22/F, Went to get my naval area cleared (and possibly entire stomach/chest), of Pakistani descent (boooo hairy genes) and doctor seems to think I have no hormonal problems (no blood test done, just asked if periods were regular).

Dont even think to go back to her - out there are too many bluffers that say they are good electrologists.

You shouldnt feel ANY! plucking, just the sansation (pain) caused by the current heating up the follicle. And the last few mm of the hair has to be a white cougulate.
Even then, it is not guaranteed, that the hair does not grow back… But its a good start.

Be avare - there are 3 types of electrologists:
1.bluffers - pay a fortune to them, years of plucking, NO RESULTS AT ALL!

2.good electrologists - 30%reduction per clearance. 2 or more years for good results.

3.great electrologists - 50-90% reduction per clearance - you see the results right after the 1st one. Required are virgin hairs. 9-12 months of treatment, THEY ARE VERY RARE!

After a few more experiences youll see that it is worth to travel even a few thousand kilometres and wait a long time for (allmost a year in my case:) for a great one - in the end, its gonna provide you the right results youre looking for and allso save you a lot of money, frustration and pain.

Wish you luck

Thanks for the reply, Miro

I won’t be going back to her for sure! I just thought I was being overly cautious about it so I had to ask.

I wasn’t aware that even a good electrologist Only clears/reduces 30% ! I thought once you zap the hair and it slides out then it never grows back so thanks for setting that straight with me.

I was super frustrated after the session as I hate my stupid body hair and did not want to wait any longer to get it cleared. I called up the next person on my list and the number no longer works which sucks so I have one more to go. I can’t travel far just yet, but as you said, perhaps waiting to be able to travel further will be worth it!

You made me feel much better about it all, cheers <3
