I have PM you stoppit but again I think the site is having issues since the update things are vanishing.
This is getting rediculous. Threads shouldnt still be disappearing. This indicates to me there was a problem with the board’s upgrade and access tot he database which holds the boards posts isnt working properly. Experience tells me this will get worse not better.
And I’m not sure there’s an easy way to fix it either, short of archiving the existing content and restarting the board with a fresh database.
Stoppit, I disagree on the number of hours for a clearance . 30-40 hours can easily be a drop in the bucket and every case is different. While I realize there are one or two here who can do a face and have such an incredible kill rate that they are finished in 100 hours, but those electrologists are the exception, not the rule. Many trans people I know have 300+ hours, and arent quite done yet.

I’m pretty sure, reading the opening post, that this lady is not TG. Her photos are also in previous posts including clearance of one side of the face over achieved over 12 weeks. 30-40 hours should have been enough to make a dent and see a noticeable difference if the majority of those follicles were killed. Perhaps that was the case - I hope it was, but if it was, then why the need for laser?
If people keep settling because someone is a lovely person, rather than looking at cold, hard facts, there would be no incentive to improve ones work. To me, a high kill rate is essential, I would not pay for plucking or even 50% plucking.
No the lady is not tg she did however state she had a full mans beard and had only had clearance at one side leaving the other. I would presume her case would take longer but I do agree you should see changes in the hours that have been done to encourage you to stick to it. Where we disagree is that she should be near completion.
I hope things are going well with your laser treatment x
Yes, it took 12 hours for that one side cleared over 12 weeks (approx 3 months), that is enough time to get through most of the active follicles if she had presented with a recently shaved face before treatment 1 (and didn’t shave again during treatment). If the kill rate of this electrologist was at least high (minimal errors leading to essentially plucked hair), she would have noticed a very little new growth+regrowth in the moths after this even if she stopped treatment on that side. She would have needed another 12 hours or so to achieve the same on the other side. That’s about 25 hours for a first proper clearance on both sides.
I said it should have been enough to make a significant dent had the electrologist been killing most follicles (yes, with someone like Josefa, she would have probably been almost done). And I’m saying that given past results she should assess whether this electrologist is actually worth continuing to spend money with if she wants to finish the job within a decent TTT. Finer hairs with follicles that have been undergone Laser are actually harder to treat than the juicy coarse hairs she had before.
Perhaps time to get a test patch done to assess kill rate? Take away the doubt.
Stopit,
Has your PIH resolved if you ever had any?
I’m also a type IV.
I still have PIH, at nearing the 7 month mark.
I understand that you probably have a far greater knowledge of electrolysis than myself, but I am actually quite happy with the progress. I posted some photos before, but even these photos didn’t show the full extent of my facial hair. It was horrendous, and SO strong/coarse from years of plucking all day, every day, so these hairs would keep growing back, but finer each time.
I know my electrologist wasn’t plucking the hairs, believe me, I know what that feels like haha, I’m a plucking veteran! She made a noticeable difference to one side of my face, which has remained almost cleared throughout my laser treatments. I predict I’ll need another hour or two to have complete clearance on the right side of my face, then perhaps a few tidy up sessions to get rid of the last few.
The left side of my face is the side that my electrologist hadn’t started on. The laser has probably gotten rid of half of the hair, but I still have enough hair on my face to warrant shaving every day. I know that there are some amazing people on here who can clear a face in X amount of hours, but I’m happy with how things are progressing - I know my own face, and I know just how much hair is there. I have very blonde, coarse hair there too, which doesn’t show up in pictures, which is making the removal process even longer.
Me and my electrologist chat during my sessions, perhaps this makes her work a bit slower, but I prefer having the conversation as a distraction from the agony. I know she’s done a fantastic job as, like I said, the right side of my face is almost clear and has been for almost a year now.
I predicted at the start that it would take me around 3 years to be completely hair-free, and I still maintain that that’s how long it’s going to take. My electrologist and laser technician constantly compare my case to TG people, so I do have a LOT more hair than you’d expect a ‘typical’ hirsute woman to have.
At the end of the day, I’m a hell of a lot happier than I was last year haha. I have complete faith in my electrologist, as I have seen the results, even if others think the process is going a bit too slowly.
Well that was really my point - be sure that you are going to get results. I’m glad to read that the side she cleared remained clearer. Although I’m still confused what the 30-40 hours were spent on… I hope the additional hours were not on maintenance of the same side after those first 12 hours.
Plucking with tweezers and an electrologist not completely killing the follicle but still removing the hair feel nothing alike (you won’t notice the latter usually), which is why it’s so hard for clients to determine whether or not they are getting effective treatment without doing a test patch. In fact, most electrologists I have come across don’t even realise they haven’t fully treated the follicle because they don’t pay close enough attention to whether they are exerting any force on extraction, or of there is a bit of resistance, attribute it to false ideas.
I don’t think you had a lot more hair (I can guess how much given your ‘before pic’ and the fact you shaved recently prior), just that it was very coarse.
I hope you will take my advice and wait 6 months after your last laser session before starting the electrolysis again, for both your sake and that of your electrologist.
Hi LDLD, I’ve been meaning to pm you for a while. I haven’t been very active on here for the past 6 months. Yes, I’m south Asian - we get PIH! Yes it resolves; how long totally depends on the individual, the body area and the type of hair being treated. I’ll drop you a pm tomorrow.
Ty you !

I sent you that message last year, lol.
Reading your story literally made me cry so much. I just dropped out of University cause of the facial hair. I am 21 and have been suffering since I was 15. I have never had a boyfriend cause of how scared i am. i suffer from PCOS so suffer from everything. and hair loss along with excessive hair everywhere sucks. I want to kill myself but i have to remind myself that i am worth working for. I recently started electrolysis and so far I have had 2 hours it’s an ongoing expensive procedure. and just like yourself i live in UK. just like you I crave for attention on nights out. I hope that you will update me with your progress cause honestly I feel like I am losing myself.
Hi there,
I realise you wrote this a LONG time ago, but I popped back on here today for some reason and just felt I had to reply, even if you won’t get this. I’m so glad that you know you’re worth something and that killing yourself isn’t the answer. I know exactly how you feel - some days I felt that I’d rather be dead… but then when you think of the people you love and the beauty of the world around you, the hair seems less significant.
How are you getting on now? I realise it must have been a while since you started electrolysis, have you kept it up? Are you noticing the changes? I must be about 3 years or so into my treatment for facial hair… I’ve been focusing on laser for the past year or two, but it appears to be having no effect now, so I’m planning on moving back to the electrolysis. I still have to shave every day, but I’m no longer in that dark place I was when I started this post. As expensive as electrolysis is, I just want to get it over and done with and start fully enjoying my life.
As for boyfriends… if the guy is worth being with then he won’t have an issue at all with your hair. The hardest thing to do is to open up and tell them the truth, but I bet you, more often than not, the guy won’t really be all that bothered. There are obviously the odd few horrible people who would suddenly lose their attraction etc, but those people are not worth wasting any time on anyway, so no loss! Looking back on my ex boyfriends, I guarantee if I had told them the truth they would have stuck by my side, because they loved me for me. I wish I’d been brave enough to open up to them instead of pushing them away. All I can say is, don’t give up on love until you’re hair free… don’t wait… just see what happens
Women are becoming much more open about their body hair nowadays. Not everyone likes it, which is fine. But women are empowering other women with body hair, it’s beginning to be normal for women to not shave their legs or underarms… there are many beautiful bearded women that are taking a stand and showing the world that they don’t care what anyone thinks. Hopefully this positivity keeps going and the stigma attached to women and body hair lessens.
If you are still around here and need anyone to talk to, please do get in touch xxx
