I just wanted to share my experience with electrolysis. I am 31 year old male with who was very very hairy. I had hair covering every inch of my body (read: back and front of neck, shoulders, upper arms, elbows, lower arms, hands, interdigital hair, the entire back, ass, legs, abdomen, feet - everything).
I saw myself falling into a depression. I was socially stunted. I felt that I could be physically or emotionally close to anyone because of how much I hated my body. I excessively shaved, tweezed and epilated my hair until I had post inflammatory pigmentation changes (mainly upper arms and back).
Although I was never suicidal, I saw myself becoming depressed and losing hope. I spent about 2000 dollars on lightsheer laser (about six treatments covering my upper arms, chest and back). I ended up with paraxoxical hair growth.
A little over two years ago, I decided to start electrolysis:
Upper Arms:
I started with my upper arms (Elbows to shoulder). It took my electrolygist about 10 hours each arm (20 hours both arms). I got my first clearance in two weeks. After my first clearance I made monthly appointments and got 100% clearance on both upper arms. I did this for about 8-10 months. After getting 10 full clearances, I started going every second month. Now that I am two years out - it takes roughly 45 minutes to clear each upper arm (as opposed to 10 hours when I started). I have achieved about 90% clearance of my upper arms
Chest:
About 6 months ago, I decided to start my chest. My first clearance took about 6 hours. after about 4 clearances - it takes about 2 hours to do my chest. I think I have achieved about 60% clearance of my chest.
Back/Shoulders.
Now that It takes about 4-5 hours to do both my arms and chest, I have decided to start my shoulders and upper back (from the neck, to the lower part of the scapula). I have had two clearances in the last two months.
Currently, I am going to my electrolygist every month for my upper back/shoulders and every 2 months for my upper arms/chest.
Ultimately, my goal is to get enough of a reduction of my back and shoulders so that I can alternate Shoulders/UpperBack (month1) and Arms/Chest (month2). Once I have achieved this rhythm (after getting 8 or 9 clearances of my upper back and shoulders) I will start my lower back.
I am absolutely ecstatic with my results. I can wear t-shirts without feeling self concious and I take off my shirt without feeling like a beast.
I feel as if electrolysis has truly changed my life. I think I have a another 2 years or so before I have achieved my goals. Electrolysis is painful - but it has truely changed my life - and for that, I will be forever grateful.
