My experience after the 1st session...

Ok. Finally after several months (if not years) of hesitation, I decided to go ahead with my leaser treatment on full arms and legs in a very nice clinic in S’Pore:

Initially the doctor was reluctant to start the procedure right on the spot due to my suntan. Despite the fact I stopped the sun tanning thing several weeks ago, I was still having a dark brown color. He decided however to try in several areas in arms and legs first to see my reaction to the treatment.

The same afternoon I came back, the Dr. decided to proceed only in arms using a mild setting (don’t remember the laser equipment but the number he mentioned was 18 instead of 40 or so). As per the legs he told me that definitively couldn’t be treated after checking the ugly reaction with the laser.

I guess I tolerated quite well the pain although in some areas close to the armpits the pain was really high and hard to take.

After almost two weeks after treatment, I got a full re-grow and I was a little disappointed, but suddenly I noticed these hairs can easily be removed with no effort and recovered my confidence in the treatment.

So far I am happy with the results in arms as it seems it is working and I notice less hair (about 15% less)…. Regarding my legs, the doctor told me that “maybe” he will try them during my next session in about 6 weeks…. I’ve noticed that the test patch in the front of my lower leg does not have a single hair after two weeks, so I am a little bit worry since I just want to have a significant hair reduction on my legs but keeping a sort of natural slightly hairy legs (not completely smooth) .

You’re not approaching this correctly and are probably not really affecting the hair permanently.

First, please find out:

  • laser used
  • joules, pulse and spot size settings used

Also, please read the FAQs at the link below carefully.

If you want to get results for your money, you need to wait until the tan is completely gone. There is no point of having the doctor use really low settings to avoid burning you as low settings won’t kill your hair. You will be wasting your time and money. All treated hair should shed within 3 weeks. If that didn’t happen, most of the hair wasn’t affected. Also, with your skin type, you should be using a Yag type laser. If your doctor is using another type, the settings are probably always going to be too low to kill the hair.

lagirl,

I did read carefully the FAQ at least 100 times before proceeding. I decided to take the risk of going ahead anyway with lower settings and relatively tanned because I wanted so rather than lack of knowledge about the facts involved.

I am seeing however all the hairs in my arms are falling out by themselves, so I may say I’ve achieved some progress so far whatsoever.

Anyway it’s my expectation to start the “full-blast” treatment (with the proper setting and so) in 6 weeks. Actually the doctor told me that once we reach that point the pain is considerable higher and some anesthetic might be necessary.

Last but not least, the doctor explained to me that despite the suntan, he is considering my case as a dark skin patient.

I will get from the doctor essential details such as the laser type, skin type, etc and I will post them here.

Cheers

sounds good. shedding is a good sign already. you shouldn’t need another treatment on the same area in 6 weeks. they shouldn’t be spaced more frequently than 8-12 weeks apart.
