My electrolysis

18th treatment. 1hr on the abdomen, nipples, in between breasts, a few on the upper lip.

Very happy today. I had this electrologist once in the past. She is very old or looks very old, but she is awesome. I think that other clients do not prefer her, because of her age. Too bad for them! She is never fully booked, and both times my treatment went for a bit longer than an hour. I will stick with her and my original electrologist on Saturdays.

19th treatment. 1hr on the lower lip and sides.

So far I have spent approx. 1500 Australian dollars on electrolysis. No regrets!

20th treatment. 1hr on the upper lip and abdomen.

21th treatment. 1hr on the sides.

22th treatment. 1hr on upper/lower lip and abdomen.

How many treatments does it take to destroy a hair?

1 zap usualy, but 2 or 3 if it is stubburn and it will grow back finer

23th treatment. 1hr on cheeks and sides.

Well, how’s it going after 23 treatments over all these areas?

I have hardly any hair at the moment. The few one’s left are short, light and fine and mainly on the sides. I don’t have coarse hair anymore (I only had coarse hair on the upper lip due to tweezing). Of course, I will have hair to be treated by the next appointment, but I won’t have as many as I used to have and their texture is not bad at all.

I stopped temporary hair removal methods since my 5 treatment. I just clip the few hair that bother me. My skin has improved too. I used to have a dark spot on the upper lip due to coarse ingrown hair, but now I can hardly see it. I assume that it will go away eventually (at least I hope so!).

I think that the next time I will ask my electrologist to do the chin and the area under the face (is there a name for this area? can’t remember!). Although hair are normal there, I think that doing it a couple of times will be good, because it looks fluffy relative to the rest of the face.

I will go twice a week for a couple of weeks, and then probably switch to once a week or add a few more areas. For instance, I want to do my eyebrows. BTW I’ve heard that electrolysis cannot be performed below the eyebrow, only above and in between the eyebrows. Is this true?

Nice followup, rinava. You just perfectly described how electrolysis works when it is performed correctly. Couldn’t have said it better. For the areas you are having work, somewhere in the 20’s range is where the client is feeling pretty happy and calm that this is working.

Yes, clients frequently start to focus on new areas once they see how well this works on one or two areas. They get very comfortable because they know what to expect and they are anxious to enjoy freedom from chasing hair and smoothness.

It is NOT true that you can only work above and in the middle of the eyebrows. Working below the eyebrow line is a top area for me after the lips and chin areas. A big reason why electrolysis is so cool for the eyebrows is because you need pinpoint precision for this area. Also, you can select hairs of any color and size. No other method can be this precise or selective for permanent hair removal. It is very safe, too.

The part between the eyebrow line and the eyelids, the fatty part of the brow on top of the bone, needs to be worked with carefully. The correct probe size and highly accurate insertions are very important here. There are lots of little capillary networks and it can be easy for a little bruise to occur if one does not perform electrolysis well. It is a wonderful place to be hair-free. I like my clients to get the look they like either with their own tweezing or with a professional makeup artist be fore we start. I just follow the lines after that.

Thanks for your report and keep going onward.

The discolouration of your upper lip will fade away with time. A good cold processed whole leaf aloe vera gel applied daily and overnight can help that fade away faster (because it is helping the skin heal. It is NOT a fade cream like those chemical age spot lotions)

Does this mean that the aloe vera gel works better than the fading creams James?

If one workes both from the inside and the outside, one can get the best results. Skin likes to have vitamins A, C, and E. B vitamins are good for skin as well. You can put those inside of you with Carrots, Broccoli, Spinach, Citrus Fruits (like strawberries, & blueberries) and nuts (like almonds and peanuts or sunflower seeds). Aloe from the outside, and those vitamins from the inside and you can heal up very well. When I was a teen, my evil half brother burned me with an iron, leaving a mark that took up my whole forearm. Over a year later, I STARTED putting pure whole leafe Aloe Vera on it twice a day, and in 6 months it was healed so well that I became too lazy to continue the treatments. It is healed enough where no one but me notices where it is now. If I cared more about it, I would continue doing it so that it would go away completely, but I got enough relief that I just don’t care anymore.

Besides, if I got rid of it entirely, I would not still be able to use it as proof that my half brother is evil, now could it?

Thanks for that. I’ll give aloe vera a go. What your half brother did to you was very evil indeed. How does he live with himself?

He is not doing so well these days. Recently, I was on the receiving end of a request to pay for him a 2,000 mile plane ticket and to live rent free in one of my houses. You know what I told him, don’t you?

What goes around comes around James!

24th treatment. 1hr on the upper/lower lips, chin and all the area up to the neck, nipples, in the middle of the breasts and abdomen. I think it is obvious that I don’t have many hair, as in one hour all these areas were treated and are either clear or almost clear.

25th treatment. 1hr on cheeks and sides. Next week I am going only once, because at this point I don’t need more than 1hr treatment.

And this is the point where most of my clients start to either expand the area we are working on, or start new projects, like under the arms, or legs.

I’d love to do more areas, such as the eyebrows. Also I want to give a go to laser for underarms, but maybe a bit later. Although the treatments are worth every dollar, I am a student, so I have to be careful. The only thing I regret with electrolysis is that I haven’t started it earlier!

Laser treatments for underarms can cost as little as $50 and you only need treatments once every 2-3 months. So it’s really not that expensive.
