I will be happy to give my opinion too. Be very careful when trusting electrologists to permanently remove your eyebrow hair.
Candela,
Your statement should say “some electrologsits”. I prefer that my eyebrow clients go to a makeup specialist or such to have their eyebrows shaped first and if they like the look, then have the electrologist follow the pre-determined lines. Then communication is precise and expectations are met.
I had a 45 min appointment today and I think it was too long.
But I asked for some nose and chin hairs to be removed and I do feel better. My electrologist said to me though it’s probably not worth it sticking needles into these places where it’s not really necessary.
The main work was eyebrows and upper lip. I don’t really find it painful anymore, except at times it does feel a bit sharp, but that is easy to handle. Might message some pictures tonight of progress.
Peace, sorry for the delay in responding.
I thought this pictures might find useful.
This woman was treated with Electrolysis in their eyebrows and space between the eyebrows about 6 years ago. I took advantage of her removing the chin hairs to take a picture of the current appearance of the eyebrows. I hope it helps.
I had another 30 min appointment today on upper lip and eyebrows and reduction seems to be going well. I just feel I have so much hair on my face though.
I had another 30 minute appointment on Tuesday and I must say, electrolysis is painful. My eyes feel really sensitive too when it’s done, so that adds more pain to it. I can usually take it, but the middle upper lip hurt, and there are so many tiny hairs there I don’t know when they’ll be gone.
Reduction is going well and I mentioned the eyebrow issue so she won’t touch that part anymore.
Apart from that… well I don’t know but I hope I see good results soon for nearing clearance.
Great! That it’s going well, not the pain part
Are you going to try bleaching at all? My upper lip is pretty much ‘done’. I still have tiny tinnnny hairs but because they are bleached they don’t cause a grey shadow and are hardly visible. I can therefore put my electrolysis time into other parts!
My sister has had an hour total on her upper lip now. Still not enough even to have made a visible reduction. Will be much happier when all the longer/thicker ones have gone!
Yea, that isn’t much time. I’ve probably done over an hour by now.
I haven’t tried bleaching yet. I want to first get most hairs gone then will turn to that. I have lots in the middle which hurts most, I don’t know when they will start seeing a reduction more. Any tips?
Oh another thing I forgot to mention is that my reaction to electrolysis is well. I hardly get anything on upperlip but when work is done on eyebrows (this part seems most troublesome for electrolysis) I get the little whiteheads or whatever they are called and even if I get it on upperlip, they go, but with eyebrows they are still there and there’s a few. For some reason the aftercare products aren’t working enough in that area.
Well, to give you a comparison, After 1hrs worth on my upper lip you could see a visible reduction in hairs. My sister’s upper lip looks untouched and I think even a 2nd hour there will not make it look much different. She really has a lot of hair. Sharon hasn’t sugarcoated things and we know she is probably one of her most hairy female clients that hasn’t been diagnosed with a hormonal problem.
I have no idea why you are experiencing more whiteheads on the eyebrow area
You may be getting whiteheads in the eyebrow area for the simple fact that eyebrow hairs can often be quite shallow- one of the few areas that can accidentally have permanent balding if you pluck aggressively or injure the area. The skin is really weak and delicate there, and the hair is thick but shallow. So I can see why it would react more than other areas in some people and require extra skill, theoretically. I don’t know if that’s the reason, but it could be.
Interesting.
MPK as you may know I’m with the same electrologist. I barely get whiteheads but when I do it’s always the upper lip or chin. Nothing around the eyebrow area so far.
I think my eyebrow is just extra delicate in the first place.
That’s really unfortunate about your sister. I thought she had less hairs but they were just thicker. I have a lot of hairs which are tiny but I go once a week now and probably spend 15-20 mins on the upperlip area. I think it would be really great for them to upgrade their machines now. They have so many clients and you have referred so any people so at least this could help towards your sister (and the rest of us).
My hair is probably in between you and your sister because I have noticed Sharon taking out hairs on my forehead… I think.
Hmm… not sure about that. I would say you are less hairy on the face than me. You would be surprised at what a visible difference bleaching makes, especially with the shortest, finest hairs.
It’s too bad I don’t have any “proper” pics of before I used to bleach. My hair is (was) continuous over my sideburns, cheeks, chin, upperlip, neck. It looked like a beard. People used to tell me to shave. You have your hair in concentrated areas.
i.e. If my glabella wasn’t ‘bleachable’ I’d probably have it treated.
For a limited time, here is the lower part of my face before I started any treatment on these areas, other than the coarse chin hairs that would not bleach.
I think you can imagine how it would it would have looked in its natural state as very black hairs.

And a lot of the hairs aren’t even showing up because of the light.
The above photo was June 2008. I had only been having electrolysis for a few months and only on my sideburns and the odd very coarse chin hairs.
The below is from August 2009. Although the lighting conditions are different, I hope you can see the difference on the upper lip, which is where most of my 2009 facial electrolysis was done. Obviously, it’s even better now.

And here is another from around the same days but taken from a ‘normal’ distance - not a close up photo:

Stoppit, I can tell even from just that half shot (haven’t seen any other photos of you) that you’re totally gorgeous. You’re going to look so stunning when you’re all finished (not that you didn’t before, but I know from personal experience it’s hard to have confidence sometimes when you’ve got more hair than you want).
Oh yea, I see that. Bleaching probably does make a huge differne trying to imagine my dark hairs bleached and I can see the result from your picture. I understand the confidence boost more better now.
I totally agree. I have seen stoppit and she is very beautiful.
The difference is, I’m not. Lol but that’s life.
Let me say that I too have seen the lovely lady, and I can’t imagine that she would have a problem getting a prom date, unless the guys are scared off by her male family members.
Peace1, the reason why there are white dots in the space between the eyebrows is that this area produces a lot of seborrhea. It is a normal reaction when this area has been subjected to Electrolysis. It is similar to folliculitis caused by shaving the man’s neck. Do not worry, do not leave scars. I could see those white spots on the photo of your eyebrows and do not worry.
I could also see a small scar on his right eyebrow. Seems to have many years, perhaps when you were a child. Please be careful not to remove hairs that should cover the scar, so this is not very visible.
An hour in the middle of the upper lip should have eliminated most of the hairs in this area. You can help by tightening the lips with your hands, that way it will be much less painful.
I do not understand why it hurts so much eyebrow, ask your electrologist that area very tense.
(Perhaps a picture will help to understand better. Tomorrow I’ll try to put it)
Lol… you guys! Thank you for your compliments
Actually I have a few things to say but I’m not sure in what order!
I hope my story gives others hope.
I am now 27 years old and even though I still have facial hair I do feel pretty and am confident in my skin. But it’s been a long time coming. As well as the facial hair, I had acne through most of my teens and into my early twenties. I know well what it is like to stand in front of the mirror for ages, wishing away the hair and the spots and the scarred skin.
I underwent a transformation over some years. I started bleaching after my first year of uni, when I was 19. This helped somewhat as I didn’t feel so ‘beardy’. On the insistence of my best friend, I finally had my long hair (which I only ever tied back) cut off and styled nicely and started wearing contact lenses. In the following years, my acne subsided and even though my scars didn’t really fully disappear until I was about 23/24 but they did! I also started dabbling with makeup and became very good at enhancing my features and perfecting the ‘no makeup with makeup’ look. Finally, I started my hair removal journey.
When people see my older pictures, they can’t believe it’s the same person. To be honest, none of my changes have been drastic, just little things over the years that added up to something bigger. Now I’m like the beauty advisor to all my friends! I even did my own wedding makeup! I look back at my 18 year old self and she could never have imagined herself in the future feeling good about herself and finding someone that would love her and not mind the hair.
So, peace1, it may not feel like it right now but I’m positive things will only improve for you. You have started one of the biggest things with electrolysis and over time the other things will fall into place. You just need a little patience and a lot of positivity.
Now, here’s the thing peace1. When you saw me that day, I had pretty much the same amount of cheek and chin hairs as in the above picture. The only difference from that picture so far is my upper lip which is much less hairy. I bet you couldn’t see/didn’t notice all that hair!
I have started on those areas now but really, they are the last thing on my face I want to tackle. As you know, my sideburns bothered me the most (as they wouldn’t bleach) so I did those first. Then eyebrows. Then upper lip, as I did a survey of my friends and they said that the upper lip looked way more obviously hairy to them than the chin and cheeks.
I had to search my hard drive for that photo, as in most lighting conditions, all that hair doesn’t show up. That’s the same for real life. I know I still have hairy cheeks, chin and neck but most of the time, people don’t notice. I’m going to update my previous post with more pics
I wanted to illustrate what a difference bleaching makes to dark hair on light skin.
Sorry for the long post in your thread but I hope it helps!
Aww stoppit! I hope I end up where you ended up. It’s all exactly the same. So happy to know you are done with it!!
