So I’ve called like 6 places to make an appointment and only one place called me back. I had a consultation with them today. It was a complete joke. She said she had 46 years experience. She basically told me to have laser treatments. It’s like, I told you how many times I’ve already tried laser. I’ve tried 3 different lasers over 3 or 4 years. It obviously isn’t working!!! She told me the machine I’m getting treated with should work on me and that its probably the techincians fault for not having the right settings. It’s like Duh. I’d rather not roll the dice with laser anymore. I’ve tried. I want my hair gone forever. She was kind of like…Well I could treat you with electrolysis but you’d be swollen and red etc. I can’t believe she tried to talk me out of it. I think when you tell most electrologists you want large areas done they try to shoo you away. Now I have to try and find someone again. Every place I call always has a answering machine answer and they never call back. Why is it so hard to get this hair removed??
I guess you now know why people like Dee and myself are so busy.
Many people in this industry have made a living off of what I refer to as women’s cookie duster mustaches. Those people don’t have experience doing the type of work needed to clear a large area, or thick hairs like one finds in a genetic man’s beard. If that person happens to perform LASER as well as electrolysis, it is very attractive for them to steer you towards the thing that will cause them to do the least work, while making the most money for their time, and offer the least muscle strain and pain.
I once visited a colleague, and while I was there, a man walked in off the street and started asking her about how much it would cost to do his back and chest. After she gave a lot of negative feedback to his proposal, the man said, “Look lady, money is no object, I want this hair gone. I just would like to know what it is going to take to do it, and you sound like you are trying to talk me out of it.” She said, “I AM trying to talk you out of it. I don’t even want any part of doing what you want to do.” The man was visibly red faced, and stormed out the door.
I wanted to go after him and give him my card, but since I was visiting another person’s office I did not do so.
I can only add to this that people like myself do large areas all the time. The person just needs to understand t hat it is slow going in the beginning, and later just requires staying on schedule to keep it clear as we advance towards getting to completing the project.
Oh, and as far as the answering machines and no call backs. Most of us don’t have a designated phone answering person (because family just wants to help spend the money, you know) and IF we ever get around to listening to our messages, call backs are done in order of priority. Most peoples priority list goes, current clients, new business they want, and no call back to new business they are not interested in (don’t worry, had you talked to them, you may not have fared much better. Many men are used to getting "I don’t treat men! CLICK when they call seeking a consultation)
Just know that you may need to travel to get what you want done and done right.
Yeah she conveniently does laser as well. Funny thing is she didn’t try to get me to buy treatments from her. I think I will end up having to travel even further than I thought. She was 30 min away. I guess I will have to look further.
