Arlene, I must tell you that I almost always work on the upper lip for 20-30 minutes with no problems what so ever. Skin looks great and healing is fabulous. Maybe the manufactuers and instructors should add some clarity to this by pointing out what the up-to-date computerized epilators can do for electrolysis clients. Your statements are maybe true if one is using an epilator that has a more unpredicatable energy output, but I’m not experiencing anything close to this scenario where one should work only 15 minutes on an upper lip.
Sterex also has a black coating and it is easy to see the degredation on them as well. However, I’ve never really had a Protec with insulation failure during a treatment. I prefer the two-piece for most applications, although I do use insulated Ballets quite frequently for bent probe technique in some areas of Brazillian and under the chin work.
