I’ve had a few moles on my upper shoulders, arms that have become lighter from the laser. They don’t look as dark. I have one that about a quarter of it is now gone from the laser treatments I’ve had. Should I be worried?
Were there no attempts to cover the moles with red ink prior to being lased? Did a physician evaluate the moles before treatment?
Sounds like they crusted over, but my understanding is, you don’t want to erase moles, with laser because there is no way you can then observe for funky changes in the future if they are not benign. I hope poster “sslhr” is still with us as he can give more detail about this. Or you can ask your doctor.
It is difficult to remove moles with hair removal lasers, but it can happen, especially when they are dark.
The problem is that moles that are partially destroyed begin to look unnatural and makes it harder to tell if a cancerous change is occuring. But there is no risk of the laser itself causing the mole to become cancerous.
The bottom line is that it is better to avoid moles than to laser them.
My tech wouldn’t laser over my mole. I had it removed so I could get the full laser treatment. After it was removed my dermatologist told me not to laser over the area for a couple weeks (3 I think), but I had my treatment like two weeks after and told the tech to just laser over the scar. Nothing happened. I took pics of it.

There are no scars or marks of it now.
I also have a very tiny mole/freckle in my underarm area. I didn’t even realize it was there until after I started my treatments. Before I had so much razor burn it just blended in with the bumps. I don’t think it has changed this mark at all.
