Moisturizer & numbing cream before appointment?

Some background info:
I get blend electrolysis on my face since July of last year. I stopped electrolysis for a couple weeks recently hoping this dry skin problem on my face will get better and go away, but it hasn’t. The skin itself isn’t a rash or bumps, just excessive flaking all over and itchiness sometimes, and if I touch my face even slightly it gets irritated and flakes up even more (this is new). For the last month, when I wash my face with a gentle cleanser the skin almost instantly gets dry/tight and burning afterwards. The burning only goes away when I moisturize. I’ve had dry skin but never this bad. I went to a Dermatologist to have this checked, and she said I do not have dermatitis just excessively dry skin.

My question to you all (especially those who have similar skin like mine) is:

Is it okay to put on moisturizer (say 10 mins before) then numbing cream on the areas of my face before an electrolysis treatment? I never have done this in the past because I just wash my face, put on the numbing cream an hour beforehand, and go to my appointment. I want a clean face when she is working on my skin. Since my skin is being really irritated (even without treatments) I want to minimize reactions on my face. :frowning:

Just for those curious, for aftercare on my face I use aloe for the next 3 days or so until the redness/swelling symptoms go away.

Thanks in advance!

There is absolutely no reason to moisturize before a treatment. You want the skin as free from contaminants as is possible. Even after I would recommend aloe, which works as well as any moisturizer ( many of which are aloe based).

My electrologist told me it was ok to use before a treatment …wow! Good thing I asked on this board just to double check.
