Model year of GentleLase important?

I went to a consultation today of a place that uses a GentleLase purchased new in 1999. Is this older model going to be a good option for the best quality of hair removal, or is it going to be inferior because of its age? I read some post on this forum earlier where someone mentioned a bad experience with a machine that was older. I mentioned this to the place I went to today, and they said it must have been because of improper settings/operation.

As long as it’s been maintained, it will work just fine. Issues can only result with it if it hasn’t been maintained properly.

Great, that is good news. This lady also has a plan where she incorporates touch ups between treatment. I believe she said they do touch ups 2 weeks after treatment. Then treatments are spaced 8 weeks apart. So, treatment, then 2 weeks later a touchup, then 4 weeks later another treatment. Does that system sound like it would work well to you? It makes sense the way she explained it, but with it being “her own approach” it makes me wonder if it is truly the best?

Yes, that’s what we recommend, though we generally recommend touchups 3 weeks after since shedding can last into 2.5-3 weeks. But 2 is fine too.

I think you mean 6 weeks after, not 4, if spacing is 8 weeks. Spacing also depends on the area. For most areas 8 weeks is fine, but for some and after a while, you can probably wait up to 12 weeks. Basically, just wait until you have enough hair to treat to come in again.

Oh yeah, 8-2=6, doesn’t it? And to think I just got out of my algebra class too. lol. Anyway, thanks again for the help, I feel reassured now!
