Microflash and Picoflash

James, is there any website where I can get information on the latest Microflash and Picoflash electrolysis machines? They are made by Apilus, correct?

I did a google search and didn’t really come up with anything useful.

I guess we were posting at the same time. I just posted an answer to your question on micro and pico on “Has anybody heard of single needle electrolysis”. James, please add your insights as we are always grateful for your input.

Sorry, RJC,for not getting back to you sooner, but these last two days have been very busy for me.

The PicoFlash is so new that even the company that makes it had absolutely nothing online about the machine that performs it until yesterday!

http://www.dectro.com/dectrodex.htm?index-etop.html&index-e.html

that is the only blurb on the web from the company (dectro/apilus) that at least tells you about the machine that makes this possible.

For more detailed info on the PicoFlash, you would have to contact the company directly and talk to one of their technical guys. Although they do speak English, you could probably find a better conversation if you can speak French (their native language)

As for the MicroFlash, that is available on the SX-500, the Senior 2 (or Senior II as they are printed), but I don’t know that they go into any great discussion of them on their web pages. Again, I am sure the technician you speak to will be able to give you all you seek via phone, or email.

Dectro International, makers of Apilus is a family owned and operated company, and everyone who works there is helpful and just the brightest, nicest people you ever met.

Thanks for the information James! I really appreciate it!

How much does the Senior II cost? So is the microflash that much of an advancement? Is the picoflash worth the extra cost?

Thanks again.

No problem. James and I discussed these new methods in a previous thread and your thread reminded me that I wanted to get some more information on these methods.

Thanks for your reply also.

A brand new Senior II is about $2,000.00 and you can get used ones for between $750 and $1,500 when you can find one.

It is worth the extra money. More comfortable, less skin reaction, and a potential for more hairs removed per session, and more hours of work per day.

PicoFlash is even more of the above.

I forgot to ask, how much is the SX-500? Any reason to buy it over the Senior II?

It is interesting that they have different setting combinations depending on the are of the body being treated.

A brand new SX-500 is down to about $3500 now, and when they are available used, they go for about $2500. The difference is they have more treatment options, and therefore more possibility to deliver comfortable treatment if you know how to make your settings. This becomes more helpful if the hair you are working on is thick, or really deep or the person has high sensitivity. Of course, most people with high sensitivity need to get off caffeine, get some calcium and B vitamin complex in them, and start getting a good night’s sleep.

So if the hair follicles are deeper, is higher current required to treat them, or is it just more painful at a given current level? I could see where the microflash would be more helpful. The Apilus link showed pictures of the hair follicle and how the micro(pico)flash can be used to limit damage to the base of the follicle where the geramainitive(sp) cells are.

Are all those factors you mention at the end of your post related to sensitivity only or to effectiveness of treatment too?

Both machines appear to have settings for different body parts. What do they change? Pulse duration? Current level? Or both?

This thread is turning out to be very educational. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />

In a small way those factors contribute to more effective treatment, as they make the hair more treatable at lower treatment settings, and tend to make the body less likely to grow more hair. The major effect, however, is to make the treatment more comfortable due to the better hydration of the body, and skin, and also the better insulation effect of the nervous system. These factors together lead to one requiring a lower treatment setting to begin with, and additionally, being more capable to having treatment without excessive sensitivity.

Yes, higher currents are required to treat long deep hairs.

The different presets change all parameters of the treatment setting. They are a starting point. Pro’s will often go outside those presets for one reason or another, but they are a great starting point. The overwhelming majority of women won’t need to have treatment outside of the presets. In my experience, a very large number of men will need treatment outside the treatment presets.

Lastly, aren’t all my posts educational <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" /> (Somebody pop his fat egotistical head with a pin!) That was just an attempt at humor.
