Hello, I am a male in his mid 20s that wants to permanently remove hair from my anal/buttocks region. I have read that you can use laser removal or electrolysis for this. What would be the most cost effective method of doing so? If there are multiple treatments, can I do one or two then wait a year to continue or will this cause a reversal in the progress?
If you have coarse (not course) dense, dark hair, do laser first. If several treatments don’t get all the hair off that you are concerned about, then finish with electrolysis. Not all electrologists work on men’s private areas, so you will need to ask that question if you choose electrolysis.
Of course (not coarse), before there was laser reduction, electrologists were permanently removing hair from any area, so you can start with electrolysis and end with electrolysis, but a good laser in the hands of a skilled laser practitioner will be faster and you will have less time on the treatment table.
I see. Thank you for your input. Judging from your experience, what is the usual range in price or time for laser treatment? And if I delay the next treatment for several years due to time and finances, would that be detrimental to the overall treatment?
Both methods are going to require several treatments. Electrolysis can work but it can be time consuming. The hard part is finding an electrologist. You will be asked to help. Laser sessions aren’t as long.
The sooner you get it done the sooner you will enjoy the results!
Actually, don’t wait too long like I did. You start getting grey hairs and the laser can’t touch those. those all take electrolysis. The helping part of electrolysis is a pain in the @#%&. Actually not in the butt, in the contortions required to hold those cheeks open for 20-30 minutes.
I tired several positions and lying on the belly with one leg out seems to work the best.
Ditto that Camero. I also bring a pillow to place under the hip opposite from the practitioner to lift up a bit and help cheek spreading…
I had more butt crack work today. On my side, both legs bent some and me spreading a cheek with the top arm. Worked like a champ other than my arm getting tired after a while. Took a 2 minute break and back at it for ten more minutes!
Here’s a tip Ozzy. Get some plastic tape (usually red) used for Stucco jobs (about 3 - 4 inches wide). Then, just tape the “area” open … fastened down to the table.
Yep, that’s what I do! Not very “modest” but it gets the job done. The tape is perfect, because it releases from the skin easily (won’t pull out the hairs … too much).
When I was testing the various tapes at the hardware store (on my arm hairs), the salesman said, “Oh, strange, what are you going to use this for?” I said, “You REALLY don’t want to know!”
Isn’t there specific medical tape that is designed to not stick to hair so peeling it off skin doesn’t feel like waxing?
Yes, but not a good enough holding power.
