Men's hair/neck line electrolysis

I have been doing electrolysis in back and chest/stomach with excellent results. Now I would like to try to get rid of the scruffy white hair on the back of the neck, around and below the hairline where the barber usually cuts and shaves.

Is this an easy and routine area to work in? Any problems or cautions? I assume it will hurt like the dickens and that I should have the doc shoot me up properly with lidocaine.

Thanks!

It’s a very common area. I had work done here and it wasn’t painful at all; I definitely think lidocaine injections would be overkill.

Go for the neck area. I don’t know why more men don’t go for a permanent option here.

Pain for any area is largely dependent on practitioner skill in choosing settings and probe choice helps, too.

Getting the back of the neck treated is VERY worth it. I don’t know how much hair you got there but for me, haircuts last a much, much longer time and I’ve noticed that I no longer have any irritation or itching from the hair there.

I second that! It’s probably the most dramatic change I’ve had in my appearance because of electrolysis. It’s a much cleaner look and the area isn’t all that painful … Unless you have a lot of hair!

^Oh for me personally, it was one of the most sensitive areas. I did had a lot of hair there though.

Also, now that it’s cleared of all the hairs the skin on my neck is just super smooth and soft like a baby’s lol, I don’t know if that would be the case for most people. I sometimes find myself touching my neck because it feels so nice now.

THANK YOU all! I’m going in this morning to get it done (well, first round anyway) plus some errant hair on the back. Many thanks for your feedback!

Kostick,

PLEASE come back and tell us about your experience. Be sure and take before, during and after pictures! We love pictures here.

Will report later. I’ve lost two long posts because go$&@#%^*ed Apple’s new iOS8 crashed. Can’t risk another one.

Great electrolysis session. 4,381 hairs removed, 4 hours 20 minutes.

Cannot seem to post a picture because the site has a maximum size (KB) which is fairly small. She cleared below a reasonable neckline where I would get my hair trimmed (I usually have it tapered with a trimmer, short in back). She also did a full clearance on my back - my second one, the first was about six weeks ago.

I got about thirty anesthetic injections from neck to waist. I don’t know how you folks can manage without lidocaine shots. I never could. When she occasionally strays into an untreated area, the pain is severe - almost intolerable. She applies ice packs which help for a few seconds, but no more.

You can use a site like imgur and paste the link here.

You can go to a website like photobucket.com, upload your pictures, copy the IMG tag and then paste the tag in your post.

I am curious about what brand of epilator she is using, modality, probe type and size? I have cleared many backs without anesthetic help and sessions have run into hours and hours at a time.

Some people JUST have higher tolerance to ANY sensation than others do, but glad you got through the clearances.

This has gone great for me as well. Wish I would have thought of it years ago…

Why isn’t hair/neckline treatment for men a marketing campaign for the AEA, etc. ?

It’s the perfect “gateway” treatment…millions of men would benefit from it, who currently don’t have ANY awareness of electrolysis…just saying

I’m not sure if I can get those details. I don’t even know if the method is galvanic or thermolysis. The fact is that there is only one large, reputable electrolysis provider in Bangkok - Yanhee Hospital - so I don’t really have a choice. Also to be honest I’m not really into the technical details. I just want to get rid of some hair permanently, and I am very happy with the results I’m getting.

My doctor’s English is adequate but not great, and if I asked the questions you just mentioned I don’t know if they would understand them in English. The doctor gives me the injections, and one electrologist does the hair removal while another nurse assists to remove the killed follicles. The service is great (as is generally the case in private hospitals in Thailand) and I’m pleased with how it’s going. Just wish I’d done all this 20 years ago.
