Medication and electrolysis

Dear usergroup

I am going to book an appointment for professional electrolysis at a salon in my nearest city. I told them I was on certain medications and they want my doctor to issue a letter to say it’s OK to have electrolysis whilst on these medications.

I would be grateful if you could clarify if it is OK to have electrolsis whilst on…

Citrolopram 40mg (anti-depressant)
Estradiol 1mg twice daily (oestrogen)
Cyproterone Acetate 50mg twice daily (anti-androgen)

Thanks for all your help in advance!

Take care

Cupcake2;
I am not a Doctor by any means, but if a client came to me taking the medications you are on, I would have no qualms about performing electrolysis on them. Basically, having a physician clear you for taking electrolysis, clears them of responsibility. Similar to what I would do if I came across a mole on a clients skin. I will have them clear with their doctor that it is not cancerous. Electrolysis, can cause cancerous cells to go deeper into ones skin and cause much more trouble. In addition, if the doctor chooses to perform a biopsy to double check, that skin is removed, and so electrolysis on that area is no longer necessary, as that area of skin is no longer there.
I hope this helps.

Dear Martha,

Thanks for your reply. I really appreciate your help.

I shall print your reply and take it to the doctor’s with me when I go. You have been wonderful.

Thanks again!

Take care

Don’t worry so much about those drugs interferring with electrolysis, and think more about the possible side effects of Cyproterone (Androcur). The TG community has an affinity to that stuff, thinking it will get rid of their unwanted body hair. You’re best bet is to get into an elecytrolysis regimen, and spare your liver. TG’s have to deal with enough liver concerns, let alone dealing with what Cyproterone does. I believe it’s what Diane-35 uses as a mild reducer of excessive body hair, or so they claim.
