Medical Board of Ohio does some updating

I guess I can’t offer anesthetic help for my clients anymore? I have a few tubes of LMX (lidocaine)on hand to sell to clients that may need extra help for the middle upper lip. The State Medical Board of Ohio added “personally furnish” to the general prohibitions list. See wording below.

(B) No person holding a certificate to practice a limited branch of medicine shall prescribe, dispense, [size:14pt]personally furnish or administer any drug or medicine.

Some would say that you retailing (the definition is to re-sell) numbing lotions was always in violation of your office, or status.

Aren’t you glad the board made up people in our profession helped draw up this revision to help out the customers of Ohio even more? (yes, that is sarcasm)

What about topicals used to cleanse the skin? Aren’t they considered drugs? Witch hazel, alcohol, hibiclens???

I have sent an e-mail for clarification. We pay a lobbyist to look after our needs in the legislature and I usually hear words like, “be glad for what you have, don’t push”.

Its a slippery slope isn’t it.

Yes, be happy for what you have now, we will be back to take that later.
