Marathons electrolysis

Hey everyone, I’m having trouble finding anyone in san diego who offers marathon sessions. I am looking to cover a very large area (my entire upper body) and therefore thought that approach in order to achieve clearance as fast as possible would be best.

I was hoping someone could give me some names of good practitioners who offer marathon sessions anywhere in southern california.

Thanks in advance

Perhaps poster, Brenton can . He has done a lot of research.

I hear complaints from clients, who come to me from out of town, that they can’t convince their Electrologist to do longer than an hour or two. That is too bad, but you have to keep in mind that it can be uncomfortable to sit and do microsurgery on hair follicles for hour upon hour.

I do marathon sessions routinely, but I set a timer. Every 90 minutes to two hours, the client and I take a break to move and do other business before we commence on the next two hour block.

If the practitioner doesn’t have a great ergonomic set up, marathon sessions will just “kill” you!

Mike Bono does marathons, but he picks and chooses what he is interested in doing, depending on how much time he has.

So you have Brenton and Mike to ask, two great resources, indeed.

One question, are any areas appropriate for laser reduction?

Just from my experience doing marathon sessions: You must be sure if You can deal with the pain. Pain is often the limiting factor in long sessions. Some people simply cannot go much beyond two or three hours, some even less. And some can be worked “endlessly” (well i actually never met someone who was fit after 7 hours ore more).

Every week one of my girls comes and we do at least a 5-6 hour session. By the next day my back is killing me, and by the end of the session it’s usually me that needs to stop because I cant see strait anymore.I’m rare in that I will do longer sessions in order to get ahead and make the changes all that dramatic for her, but honestly if I had to do so every day I couldnt do it. My hats off to the folks who can and if you find one, stick with them, they are rare indeed.

She actually handles the pain, and never once complains. She’s a self professed pain-slut so that would be why. I do notice the fingernail marks on the back of her hands get more vivid every week though.

As an alternative though, perhaps you could set up a routine and do 2 hour sessions 2 or 3 days a week?

Seana

Today I’ve been working for a total of 475 minutes (real time killing hairs) in a young woman without any anesthesia, topical or local.

Thanks for the feedback. I do think maybe my forearms and chest could be good for laser but the rest would be susceptible to induced growth… As far as the pain goes I have a very high threshold and go through my shorter appointments with no problem. My practitioner also says my skin responds exceptionally well to the treatments. Maybe fitting in more appointments in a week is an option but ideally I would like to be able to just go once, as I like to exercise and can’t do it for a couple days after my treatment.

A good ergonomic set up makes marathon sessions possible. Using the automatic sensor reduces fatigue. Excellent vision wear is the icing on the cake.

It can be done and encouraging your electrologist to work it up might be the encouragement she needs.

Being able to work that long is mandatory in order to get a living from electrolysis alone.
But like Dee sais, good equipment supporting ergnonomy (well actually reducing its opposite) is a prerequisit for this.

By the next day my back is killing me,

Which shall not happen and, of corse, does not need to!

As an alternative though, perhaps you could set up a routine and do 2 hour sessions 2 or 3 days a week?

After the initial block session where the overtreatment occured, my treatments were arranged that way if possible. On day two it happend more than once that i gave up due to the pain after just 25 minutes.

Anyway, every client is different: some would stand the long sessions better, others more than one session not quite as long. IMO it is our responsibility to figure out the ideal schedule together with the client.
