male electrolysis > upper cheek region

Hello everyone,
I was wondering if anyone can share any info on this subject with me…I am considering electrolysis on my upper cheeks as the hair seems to be growing a bit high. I would say I would like to remove aprox 20-25 very slightly visable hairs,on each side just wondering would this the best way 2 go or is laser prob better.
Also how long of a process would something like this take in terms of appointments>
any help on this subject would be great!

Electrolysis would be best for these hairs. If you have 20-25 hairs, that is only one group of hairs. There are other hairs waiting to come forth from neighbor follicles. The process will take 9-12 months, most likely, if you get totally cleared each time and stay true to schedule. Blend would be nice or thermolysis performed well with a proper sized probe to match the hair diameter, would be just as good.

You need to consult and get short treatments with several electrologists in your area. Hopefully, you have several to choose from who have modernized their practices and who have participated in continuing education along the way. You need to ask the time and cost questions to those that can see you. Generally speaking, we always say it takes about 9-18 months for areas like this, but it could be as high as 24 months??? Electrolysis is not a precise investment, but it does work if performed by a skilled practitioner.

Thanks for the info!
I was hoping it would be a quick 1 2 3 visit and out but I guess its a long haul!
If i do decide to this route you say about a year would that be about 1 appointment a month?

Also just wondering how common is this type of procedure?

Hi Venny:

I agree with Dee that electrolysis would be the best bet
for the area you are describing.

Your best bet would be to go for a consultation or with
several electrologists if need be. Then once you’ve chosen someone you want to go with and perhaps had a short sample session, you will probably want to go for a full clearance
on the area you want done, followed up by further clearances, every couple of weeks at first to get any new hairs as
they come into the growth cycle or the few that may not
have been killed off by the initial clearance regrow.
Usually the regrowths are weakened by the initial treatment,
and can be killed off more easily the next time.

Hair grows in cycles, so at any given time you have dormant
phase hairs on your face that aren’t visible even though
the root is there. That is why it is necessary to maintain clearances over a long enough period to catch those hairs
once they enter the growth phase and become visible.

The area will get progressively better and eventually you
won’t have any regrowth in that area.

Good luck!

If you were seeing me, (and you are not) you would get the area cleared out each and every time. You would look like you were finished from the beginning, and you could get recleared once every 3 to 6 weeks. If you want to stop shaving from the first clearance, then you would come every 3 weeks, if you were ok with shaving once or twice a week, you would come once every 6 weeks.

At any rate, you would look finished for at least 2 to 3 weeks in between treatments. When you got to the point somewhere between 12 and 18 months, you would typically not need much work at all. Maybe a full clearance in 15 minutes once every 6 to 8 weeks.

Wow grear feedback guys!
James w I guess you have a had this procedure done, 1.if so are you happpy with the outcome.
2. What type of recovery will i need after each tratment say if it was done at night would i be O.k by morning,
3. what if i consider 1 treatment very 6 weeks would this work. Plus i do have to shave every day, i try not to shave the upper hairs i dont tweeze them though i just trim them with scissors.

If you did it, you would have redness and perhaps some swelling the first time. Later, you would have less of both, and much later, no visible after effects in a few hours.

you may not be able to go directly to work without some explaining the first time out, but a Friday appointment cures that. Later, you will be able to do it on a Monday and have no questions on Tuesday.

You won’t have to shave the area in between treatments if you go on a schedule that removes the hairs before you see them. That would be once every 2 to 4 weeks. Since you are working on such a small area, your reclearances after the first clearance should be progressively shorter.

I am perfectly happy with my results.
