Male Considering Laser Treatment

Hello,

I’m kind of considering laser hair removal for my chest/abdomen. A part of me doesn’t want to do it, but looking at myself in the mirror makes me want to. You can say I have self-confidence issues. Well, I am only 18 years old and I feel like I have the body of a 30 year old. I don’t like being this hairy, especially at such a young age. I feel like a part of my youth was taken away from me. A lot of older guys in my extended family have a lot of body hair, so I know it was coming to me. It’s just annoying, especially living in a society with such residents as Abercrombie and Hollister. For me, I don’t want it all off, I just want to reduce it a bit, and I heard that each laser treatment reduces about 15-25% of hair.
I have a mild skin type, I think it’s like a 3?? My heritage is Middle Eastern, but I’ve grown up in CA all my life, so I have a slight, slight tan, mainly white-ish colored skin. Would I be a good patient? I’m just ehhh about it all.

Question: When the hair grows back, cause I know it will, will it grow back in the same pattern as it was naturally, or will it be random?

Thanks, I appreciate all the advice.

Please read the FAQs at the link below.

Since you’re middle eastern, you’re at least a type IV due to underlying pigment. So you would need a YAG laser, which will also target the most coarse hair. You would probably need 3-4 treatments for a good reduction. Reduction would be even given you go to someone who knows what they’re doing, overlaps, uses a good machine and settings, etc.

Keep in mind that you’ll be developing more hair in the next 5-8 yrs. So you’ll probably need a touchup treatment maybe once a year or whenever you feel you have too much hair again.

If your hair is dark and coarse, this area responds very well to good laser treatments.
