I just bought a professional machine (Silhouet-Tone ST-250). I want to buy a magnifying lamp, and was wondering why those made for pros are $200 while those for crafters are $30.
An excellent question!
The answer is the crafter’s lamp doesn’t need to be moved around much, and therefore is made with lesser materials that would break pretty quickly if moved around the way a pro electrologist would.
You may want to look into buying a used pro lamp on Ebay. They run $75 to $150 depending on if they clamp on to a table or stand alone on a rolling stand. Of course, the craft lamps don’t have rolling stands.
