Hello group,
Can anyone provide information on what would be a good magnifying device for working on yourself?
What area? Face, body?
i don’t see how one could work on their own face…but i think it could be possible
i’m reffering to the body of course. the problem with working on one’s own body is that the distance would not always be the same…but i might be wrong.
anyway, a response from an expert would be much appreciated.
People do work on their own faces quite often by using a magnifying mirror.
The cheaper magnification products that are available need a working distance of 6"-7". If you spend more money, you can be more comfortable with a working distance of 12"-16".
You can check out your options at:
Pictures of products are provided. The Eschenbach’s are acceptable, but you weren’t specific enough with what body part you plan to work on, so the working distance of the 3x’s might not work for you.
My magnification is 4X. I use surgical loupes custom made from Orascoptic Research > $1,800.00.
You can do a search for Med-lites. One of our posters like this product and they are cheaper.
Ok. Sorry for the delayed response.
I checked the website you provided. Their pictures are small and blurry, and their specs are hard to understand. I checked the Med-Lite website, and I really like the way they present themselves, and their products. But why do they all have just one working distance? Doesn’t it vary…according to which body part you might work on?
Some of the more expensive eyewear can be adjusted, which is a nice advantage. DYIer’s have a harder time with the adjustment thing unless they are the son or daughter of Gumby.
I would suggest that you pm poster, “Mantaray” as I believe, he owns the Med-lites.
Dee
what’s a DYI?
do you personally use adjustable eyewear?
Oh,sorry… DIY is the accurate term. I guess I was typing too fast. DIY > Do-it–yourself.
My eyewear is custom fitted so I can sit straight up, about 14" away from my clients, no matter what facial or body area I am doing electrolysis on.
Of course, what we advocate here is DEO electrolysis, that is, find a partner, both learn to do it and Do Each Other.
What do you mean by custom fitted? I’m talking about adjustable WORKING DISTANCE, which would definitely vary when you work on your own body.
I’m talking about WORKING DISTANCE as well. Custom fitted means a representative from a particular company comes to my office and measures the WORKING DISTANCE from my eyes to the client laying on the table, when I am sittting staight up, comfortable in my chair. Measurements can depend on a persons body build, short, tall, etc.
Other products are dependent on you moving your face closer or farther away from yourself (or your client). Some products have dials on the lenses so you can make adjustments.
yeah…you got it. that’s the kinda device i’m looking for. do you know of any?
p.s. if i simply purchase a medlite and my working distance is close than 13 inches…would the image get blurry?
Probably. Did you private message Mantaray yet? If you are interested in the MedLites, he could be very helpful to you.
no not yet. from their website, medlite doesn’t appear to have any adjustable magnifiers. that’s why i asked you if you know of any…
Let me try to be more helpful.
The MaxDetail adjustible magnifier is a new product made by Eschenbach. The power is only 2X with a working distance of 14" - 16". Cost: $120.00
Eschenbach Galilean System has lens made for near and far distances in 2.5x, 3x,4x for $220.00. at Texas electrolysis Supply.
There is a binocular loupe that Prestige electrolysis offers that has a single twist knob to make adjustments. Highest power is 3.00x Cost $250.00
Prestige also has a double lens magnifier which appears to be uncomfortable to wear for $32.00. 1.8x - 2.3x mag.
Zeiss G3’s has a little knob that you can turn to set your required viewing height.
Obrira magnifying glasses, 2.3x allows for adjustments, 10-15" working distance. Cost $595.00
I have no experience with these products. Your best bet would be to call Prestige Electrolysis 1-800-783-7403 or Texas Electrolysis Supply 1-800-626-6025 and talk to a real person about your needs.

Now if that doesn’t keep you busy for awhile, I don’t know what will.
thanks guys i checked them all out. there aren’t that many companies that offer WD adjustments, even the more expensive ones. when they do, the adjustable WD is higher than 14", when I need lower. i’ll prolly end up buying a medlite. thanks for all your help guys.
