I am needing to buy some new loupes. When I was in school my instructor did not think good loupes were that important and she encouraged me to buy a cheap pair of clip-ons that she just so happened to have for $80, big mistake. I asked Dee what she uses and after talking to her she has encouraged me to re-think my whole thought process concerning loupes. After buying a new machine my resources are limited but with the 10% savings from Aesthetic Systems that I received for buying the machine from them I have a few extra $$. There are so many brands out there, and fortunately only a few styles to choose from, Prism, Gaillic, through the lens, flip up and head band. I wear glasses and I have always struggled with the weight of them and to add extra is hard for me. So I started thinking about the head band style, Prism, 4x, with LED head lamp attachment. What does everyone else use? Has anyone used the headband style of loupe?
I tried one with a headband and didn’t like that I couldn’t wear my hair up. I know it’s best to actually get measured and fitted in person with a loupe company but, I couldn’t afford the fitting so I went with a binocular loupe on ebay that you could adjust each eye for distance/focus as well as the spacing between the eyes (PD). It was around $350-400(?) once the shipping and currency was calculated.
My loupes aren’t pretty but, work just fine until I can upgrade to something better. http://www.neitz.co.jp/english/iryou/loupe/bls-3.htm
I had to get an optometrist to measure my PD since it wasn’t as easy to figure out the perfect spacing out on my own (without getting a headache).
I went to the above website (Neitz.co) and YIKES those people CAN’T SPELL! This poor writing would make me question the product itself.
I saw four major spelling errors, you are right. The glasses might be a fine product despite the horrendous spelling errors. It appears that English is the second language, as the company hails from Japan.
I am glad to see I’m not the only betrayed by Google translator.
I have decided to go with the through lens loupes but not sure which brand to go with. There are several reputable brands out there. That head band sure was enticing, I could keep my regular light glasses with nothing on them and have the comfort of a plastic hat What was I thinking. I think some of the loupe companies have payment plans too, still have to look into that.
No they can’t spell and had a pretty poor description lol. I bought mine years ago on ebay with a seller who had an informative description and a ton of pics. They no longer sell on ebay and I can’t remember their name.
Like I said the loupes are flexible for people who can’t afford a fitting where they take your prescription and pd measurements and create custom loupe for you. With the neitz you can adjust each eye (like a binocular) for your focus.
Oh: here is a better link for anyone interested in learning more about the loupes. http://west-op.com/higmagbinsur.html
