lotions containing self-tanners: bad idea after electrolysis?

just curious - has anyone seen those “glow” body lotions (l’oreal, jergens, vaseline intensive care) in the skin care aisle of your local drugstore or wally-world?

they contain self tanners (not sure what the active ingredient is).

are these things bad to use after electrolysis, while you still have scarring and hyperpigmentation?

was wondering if these things could be used to even out a complexion.

thanks …

These lotions only give a very slight tanning effect (which is based on a type of sugar so is very safe). I’d be careful about using fake tan if you have scabbing as any flaky, dead skin will absorb more of the colour to give a very uneven result.

Do you know that an authentic UV damage-free tan may be on the horizon? I read in Discover Magazine that biochemists found the plant derivative Forskolin can make skin cells mimic a response to UV light, leading to a genuine ‘tan’ with no aging or skin damage.

Also, researchers at Duke University have pinpointed the genetic mutation linked to trichotillomania, compulsive hair plucking.

Trichotillomania is a genetic mutation? I didn’t know that. I’ll have to google it and learn more. I thought it was a psychiatric disorder so, I guess I better brush up.

Thanks Mantaray

Dee, thanks on locating that! I had read it from a third source. That was more in depth.
